Geez I'm bored ..This'll prove it .
Was looking for a particular info sheet for an old car today and looked up colour codes just for Ford and this is what I found ... https://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.a...or_company_A-L and https://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.a...or_company_M-Z.... Stuff me... I didn't know there were that bloody many Ford Motor Company have used in the past and still needed to be sought. No wonder the term paint matching is not that easy at times when doing resto's .. Whew ... Any stand out favourites you really like that are listed anywhere here . Apologies if a similar thread involving historic colours that has been started in the past which I didn't look too far back for given there are so many hundreds of previous or exhausted threads on AFF ... Cheers . Last edited by roddy1960; 17-04-2020 at 08:39 AM. |

I think there was a thread but photobucket probably ruined it anyway.
Colours are interesting as the body shape makes a big difference to what works with it. Hence why there are no good colours on XF's. B series wins hands down for modern stuff, but a Wild Plum XA GT sedan does it for me. BTW AU's had lots of deep and metallic colours which I have noticed over the past 10 years have also been popular. Dark metallic reds and brown for example.

There was also a Yellow called Frenzy (sure someone can confirm that).
Was a very nice yellow think on BA mk2s. Am guessing the Envi Mica they talk of is the green on the BA's. was another nice colour. Wonder how many other colours members know of that not listed. |

My XC 1977 paint code 7 Chalet Blue not listed ??. Maybe only Government vehicles. Saw a dried out 1 litre for sale in a genuine ford tin a few years ago.

Well I learnt that Fantasy was the only fancy colour Ford did, there were a few cars painted in Obsession which are quite striking.

In terms of BA MK II yellows, as mentioned Rapid available on XR's, but there was also Blaze available across the range and on Territory. Blaze is hard to describe, being cross between yellow and gold. Some extremely late BA MK II were also painted in Toxic yellow. http://www.fordforums.com.au/photos/...php?photo=1744

Beautiful colour the Chalet Blue. I don't think it was available for all that long. I noticed that XY 'Spring Frost' (green) wasn't on the list either.

I'm going to miss all the bright colours the Australian cars had.
What was the light metallic green the SX Terry came in? (It's in the Wheels review from 2004) I liked that one. And was Fantasy that dark greeny colour that changed hue depending on where you viewed it from? Could go bluey at times. Late FG timeframe. Others I like depend on the way the car is fitted - extra chrome, GS stripes really set it off. eg XW GT in silver with orange stripes, black vinyl roof & all chrome eg XY GS in that Teal colour XA GT hardtop in violet metallic with white trim, wow XB GS Fairmont in Apollo Blue, white or chamois trim Special mention to Diamond White, a cool bluey white pastel colour. An XE in white with the S pack was always distinct, great visual pack that one. ED XR6 in Cobalt blue ED XR8 Sprint in Polynesian Green In fact any of the Tickfords up to AU1 with the red striping (black on some colours) - really sets off the era AU Fairmont Ghia in the deep red burgundy or the Gold, nice BA XR6T in the dark purple (Phantom?) BAII F6 Typhoon in Lightning strike, iconic FG 335 GT in silhouette with big gold stripes, nice FGX in Victory Gold I'm also a fan of two tone combos: original Terry TX, late BF Fairlane with the subtle grey/gold lower in white or black or Ego.

Thanks everyone for adding some great comments to the thread . Further question if I may for those much better versed in this than me .
With Ford being a worldwide company I suppose a lot of these colours be found in various nations too ? I remember one of the most attractive AU's I spotted once in immaculate order had a colour that I found hard to dismiss . Was told it was Organza . Just suited it perfectly IMO ... Trying to recall the colours of all my Falcons XE GL was Autumn Gold (I think) EF Futura was Gunmetal Grey BA Fairmont Ghia was Mint Silver AU is Liquid Silver FG XR6 is Lightning Strike .. Other Fords I had a gold Escort L but have no recollection of what shade of gold it was .It was a pretty deep gold though.. Also had a beaut blue Escort GL . Again can't recall the shade . She was a beaut little car too to drive . And the 2.0 litre Escort Ghia I had for a while was dark green with the cream vinyl roof .. The TX 5 I had for 6 years was Emperor Red and the only red car I've ever owned .. My old XB ute I bought to cart my mowers round on was I'd call Geez Joseph as in the song Joseph and his coats of many colours .. Every time I looked at her she showed a different colour she'd been touched over with probably a few previous owners before me . Originally some shade of white to start with . When you do look through there are a fair few early colours that you definitely recall like Vermilion Fire , Grecian Gold , Arctic White , apologies Polar White , Wild Violet etc ... I've found this too for the GT's to recall some of the really early colours and right through to the FG GTP etc.. https://www.falcongtclubaustralia.com/paint .. Again it jogs the memory of some pretty lairy paint scematics ..Numbers and other info are there too.. Gee we do miss them as a few have rightly said .. Fantasy and Obsession were chromaflair paints available on B-Series Falcons.

. Too bad I had a few issues with it such as three coil packs failing , developed a warble in the drive train that we could never get quite right despite a full balance , previous owner had stuffed the factory sat nav and the radio was hopeless . In dash CD stacker was supposed to be sourced as part of the deal as it didn't function . Car yard promised that to do that quick but they never did. .. Drove great though other than the annoying drivetrain noise . Beaut leather interior like new .On the noise/ vibration. It wasn't too bad once tailshaft was balanced and the centre shaft bearing and housing replaced but a warble never went away. Diff was checked and was okay but always had doubts given everything else was done . Even had the rear wheels /tyres/ brake rotors checked in case out of round or faulty.. Real mystery . Traded it after 15 months on the FG XR6 ...Will see if I can hunt up a picture on one of my SD cards and I'll post it if I do.. Cheers.. |

Not 100% on this but i suspect it’s the same as Nitrous Blue on the last Focus RS? Even the names are similar. |
