Default Facelifted Ford Escape on its way!

New Ford Escape

There it is, pretty much what we were given a sneak peak of at the Melbourne Auto Show....

Waiting on the new one due in 2008/09. (being developed in Europe)

Looks ok, kinda Territory/Falcon-ish... Never really saw the appeal in the vehicle but from what I've seen there it looks superior to the previous models... Hope it goes well for Ford's sake anyway

The new Escape was in the Flower and Garden Show in early April. Unlike the Motor Show in Feb when it was displayed with blackout windows, the new Escape was out in the gardens next to a Terri. The front resembles the Terri, dash layout is a definite improvement, the transmission shift is now on the floor and there's a rear flip glass. However, when I sat in the rear seats legroom was very poor. The interior space looks the same as the current model.

does look territory-esque.looks good, wonder why you'd run two vehicles looking the same though.interior looks good. i heard they were dropping the escape due to having the territory and fairly poor sales?obvoiusly not.
i dont like the new RAV 4,the previous model looked tough (even if they werent?),the new shape looks bland. even prefer the kluger to the new rav
wonder if you can get the new one with the completely non functional bonnet scoop (blocked off) like the previous one.

Never ever been an escape fan. Just dont like them. They're just like a courier with a rear end to me. Bout the same quality too. Too american looking to beat the Rav i reckon, and that steering wheel!?

Are they still just a Tribute? or are they american made?

Thumbs up

Someone made the comment about why they would run the escape and territory side by side in Australia.
As an owner of a 2001 escape I am glad they have but I seriously doubt
the intention is to run side by side. My guess is as the escape is actually an American design, They have in 2005 in america realeased a Hybird Escape.
So I figure its too keep the model alive in Australia until, the Hybrid is realeased here also, from all accounts on escape-central.com its doing very well with the few that own them.

Tribute and escape are identical cars.
The left hand drive Escapes and tributes are made in the Ford plant in Ohio in the states.
The right hand drive ones are made in the mazda plant in Japan, therfore us australians get a better built car!

Oh, goody! Still not huge fan of them tho. I'd get the Tribby, cuz I reckon the styling is better. Thats IF I ever got one.

Outside is uuurrgly. That front bar is far too big.

Interior looks real nice though.

Didnt mind the look of the old one though it's dated now but thats just hideous. The interior looks straight from a 90's kia .

I'm a little surprised, it looks better than I expected it would. The change to floor shift from column shift is probably a welcome one too. It's a damn sight better than the new Rav 4, but maybe I'm sad cos they dropped the 3 door. They looked noice with some big rims (cos we all know they don't do dirt).

i thought the old model was a good tough looking soft roader, with a interior. now this one looks terrible on the outside but good on the inside...so they should either get the next model right, or oh so wrong

Looks sort of like a little Ford freestyle, expect that 3-bar grill to embrace all aussie ford sooner or later (i.e terri, falcon)

The grill looks very ordinary, too pronounced. I'd prefer a mod of the current grill, say with wire mesh. 2005 American front looks neater. Round Fogs look better, as per Territory. I don't mind the look of the next American model either.
