Hey Guys, Just having some down time at work and was just going over some wedding stuff, originally I thought i would not get nervous but as the day draws closer (19 days) I am starting to get nervous, Big time. So I thought I would start this thread and find out what it was like for others as the big day neared for them.

What's to be nervous about? Asking permission, losing freedom, handing over all bank cards to the wife for ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, pleading for mod/spending money ... nervous why? To me it sounds like some exciting times ahead for you :P
Nah, j/k. Congratulations!! I think it's wonderful and even though overwhelming, its an experience that you should enjoy and look forward to. Take it all in. Have a fantastic wedding day and marriage. And be happy. A few drinks before the nuptials too lol.

Hey mate
it's real easy to get nervous. I had terrible sleeps for the week or week and a half leading up to the day. Separate in your mind the wedding from the marriage. The wedding is good, but you're on show to a hundred people for eight hours. Just make sure you've got everything covered and don't worry. You cannot change anything by worrying, remember that. The marriage (ie everything after the wedding) will be teriffic. Marriage is GREAT. Keep yourself busy. Not too busy so you're stressed, mind, but busy enough to not drive yourself to distraction. On the day, about an hour leading up to it all, i was so nervous i couldn't feel my hands. The 21st of this month will be 2 years for me and Mrs Hardware. Good luck to you and your future wife!

If things will change dramatically for you when you get married, you are marrying teh wrong girl.
For mine nothing changed still two individuals who do our own things when we want and have our own interests and passions. Didnt get nervous at all as I knew from the minute we met it was inevitable the day would come. If its stress about teh actual wedding, who cares relax whatever happens happens just enjoy it and treat it like a party with mates, thats what we did we scrapped all the formal crap it meant nothing to us we just had fun and went on with our lives. |

I think you might have hit the nail right on the head Mrhardware probably more nervous about the fact I will be the centre of attention, not real good at that I like to keep lowkey as a rule.

I know the feeling lol. I'm getting hitched on the 21st of August. Its a while away yet, but drawing closer.
For me, its not so much the wedding thing. Its the being the centre of attention part. I prefer being a wallflower lol. (Wedding speech - eeeeeekkkk) Goodluck mate :-)

Yep. That was the thing for me, I just needed to figure out what I was nervous about.
A wise man said to me, if you were just going to go to the registry office then McDonalds instead, would you still be nervous? I said no way! From that I knew I had no qualms about marriage at all, it was just being 'on parade' for eight hours that had me worried.

Just relax as much as you can, think of how great life will be, seeing my cousin get married was funny as hell, he was sweating. Over 10 years and two beautiful children later, he is still happily married. Best of luck to you. |

Mr. Hardware hit it on the head. I was exactly the same when I tied the knot with my best friend. Eight years and two kids later, she and I are still happily married.

Perfectly normal. As mentioned, total change of life coming your way. Responsibilities will change etc, etc.
You aren't the first sucker to have gone through this and you won't be the last. Many a good men have gone through this process. Some have even failed at it. All part of life. Honestly, if you truely care and love the woman you are marrying and you wish to spend the rest of your life with her, it shouldn't be a problem. Nerves are the norm at such an event. I can still recall my nerves on the day 16yrs ago this month. Chill. Chin up, chest out, stand tall, pin your nuts on and enjoy the day and the start to your new life together. Whatever happens on the day, make the most of it. Hope it works out well for you both and your future together a bright one. P.S. after about three hours, your will be sick of smiling for the camera and saying "cheese". All you want to do is have a feed, drink a bit, cut the cake, skip the dancin' and get down to dessert. I've never seen anyone who didn't feel a bit uncomfortable being the centre of attention at their wedding. That is completely normal.

Anyway, back on topic, I was literally so numb on my wedding day I couldn't feel my fingers. My wife and I were a lot calmer during the reception, but we were so overwhelmed we didn't eat much. To be honest, it all seems a blur - I can't even remember what the food was. I don't remember making a speech either... Anyway, best of luck to you, SVTVNM.

Are you more nervous about the wedding, the marriage or being with the girl? If you are nervous and unsure about the girl? Not a good sign.
If you are nervous about married life? Not so bad About the wedding itself? Just relax and try not to let organization and planning turn it in to a bad day, try to enjoy it. It is your guys day afterall, not everyone elses you have to entertain, if that makes sense. Best wishes. |

I will not change or anything really. We will probably join the same health cover and that sort of thing and I might ask for some money towards the house repayments. At the moment I pay the house she pays for food (way better deal for her). We both want the house paid off asap though so trying to convince her to contribute before we have kids. She came into the relationship knowing being with me is being with cars and thats how it has always been.
