Default XR6 Vs. XR8

this is gonna sound like a silly question but how much harder do the 8's go more then the standard 6's? i am kinda regretting that i didnt get an 8 to begin with but at the time i thought a 6 would be better as the insurance is cheaper etc..
as i have said in a couple of previous posts i want more power and i guess the only way i would acheive that is to get an 8?

I'm a little bit lost as to what you're asking but I'll try and answer anyway.

I've driven plenty of AU 6's and 8's, both XR and non XR models, and my personal preference is the 8 - hence why I own one. The XR6 is by no means a bad car, but if you want straight out power and speed from factory, my personal belief is that the 8 is the way to go.
Either model is easy to modify and are well supported by aftermarket tuning houses etc, with the new edits coming out you can get great results, and the XR8 engine has a huge aftermarket scene in the USA which can be accessed here also.

If you want more go from your 6, your best bet is to do research into what others have done. The obvious 6 that comes to mind is casper's car. I don't believe you need to buy an 8 to get power and speed, you can get it with either, I bought my 8 because I wanted to own a V8.

AU1, not much difference really, but AU3 XR8 vs AU3 XR6 VCT, the 8 wins every time. This is in stock trim.

Casper's car (AU1 XR6 VCT) is quicker than my AU1 XR8 (by enough to matter), so the 6 can be made to go quick. Mine would still tow a 1.6 tonne boat better though!

****edit**** See B2tf's post above (must have posted within seconds of each other)

VCT also has 70kg worth of IRS extra. But the VCT, in theory, should be a better base to build from. in reality, there's plenty of mods for the standard I6, and the VCT stuff is starting to come out as well. Of course, either engine will benefit greatly from forced induction, but then so does the 8. I used to have 2 sixes and got rid of one because I missed the instant torque, and noise, of a V8.

I'd probably stick with the 6 mate. Unless you got lucky and found an absolute bargain, the money you would lose changing over to an 8 (not so much the price difference but stamp duty, rego fees and insuance) would go a long way to bridging the gap in performance if spent well on the curent beast.

My 2 cents
