Nearly a year ago I bought a $500 HC Mondeo (1999) and it has a small amount of panel damage and a handful of niggly issues that need a look in before I send the car for a roadworthy.
The thing is fairly tidy and a touch over 130'000 km, a 5 speed manual and it drives really nice with lots of torque out of the 2lt 4 pot donk which surprised the hell out of me when I drove it the 100 ish km home down the Sth Gippy highway. The boy is now 17, still at school and has a weekend job in a kitchen so this is a chance to get his hands greasy and teach him a little about cars. Issue is I know Sweet FA about these things so I need a little help here. What it needs apart from tyres is mainly cosmetic and I bought a Drivers door minus trim and a RH Ext Door mirror (Heated/electric) so thats the door sorted once I swap the ext handle and lock out with the original one from the scraped door. Both the front ans rear bumpers are cracked and look to be pretty nasty and they need replacing too as they wont pass a roadworthy. The gear shift seems to be a bit short in 3rd and I assume its a cable shift as its easy to crunch shifting up to or down to 3rd but the gear itself when in is solid and the synchros feel fine so im hoping its a cable adjust. Interior heating/AC or HVAC works well blowing hot and cold air but to the screen only no matter where the vent control is set and id like to fix that too although it will pass a RWC as is. Finally the airbag light on the dash flashes constantly and a "Mate" suggested pulling the warning globe for the RWC but I have seen airbags go off for no good reason so I want to actually fix the issue. I also have an ODBII scanner and im hoping it will read and reset codes for the HC but being a 99 model im not 100% sure. Any other hints/suggestions about this model would be bloody great because im seriously in the dark here and I promised the kid id get it started and Roadworthy by Christmas if he got his hands dirty with me. Cheers, Tony

Next question.........
Where is a good place to buy parts and panels for these things? Pref a wrecker or parts place that delivers. Plenty online in the UK but the shipping on panels is huge
