hey all...
in preparation for the weekend, need to clarify something... i have a vernier gear already installed, but what is the correct procedure for dialling in a cam? also upon installation of the new cam, is it worthwhile to reset the ECU, and if so, what is the correct re-boot procedure of a MANUAL ECU? thanks all, santo

Do you have a dial indicator.
From memory, First install the cam as you would with a normal cam gear. Then set the dial indicator on the lobe of cyl 1. Turned the cam until the indicator was sitting on the bottom of the base circle and zero the guage. Turned the engine until its approacing TDC on cyl 1 (on compression stroke) and as TDC approached pay attention to the indicator. Keep turning until you reach the manufacturers specifications for lift - for my 1521a cam this is 38thou of lift. The cam is now where it should be at TDC. Loosen the locking mechanism on the vernier and turn the engine to TDC. Tighten the vernier mechanism very tight (use loctite as well). Do a sanity check, make sure the cam isnt too far from factory specs and turn the engine over a few times by hand to make sure the valve isnt hitting anything it is not supposed to.

Both mine have (one regrind, one billet). They seem very accurate with the cam grinds.
