yeah the mpi fuel pumps are different to the CFI ones. People have run MPI with CFI pumps but just to be safe I'd change it. If you use the 3 speed the computer doesn't matter cause the 3 speed is controlled mechanically. Your gonna have problems with the kickdown cable though. You'll have to get an EA MPI (3 speed) throttle body and bracket so the kick down cable fits. You might also have to get a new kick down cable as I think the MPI ones are longer than the CFI. Is the XG serpentine belt? I can't remember? If so your PS and AC won't fit.

Default thanks

unsure about the belts but i can get the motor for like 100 bucks and it runs great so i cant complain.when u say use the throttle body for the kick down is that the whole thing or just a part of it and if so will this effect the running of the engine at all. if i have to replace the cable where can i get one from or what off.

I honestly can't remember if you have to get the whole throttle body or not (it's been about 6 years since I owned a 3 speed!). I know that the cable hooks up to the throttle lever somewhere (so if you floor it, it pulls on the cable and the trans kicks down a gear or two). Swapping to an EA one won't affect how the engine runs. If you need a new cable either Ford spare parts or get one off a MPFI 3 speed EA.
