just wondering if you use rating service or do the ratings yourself and who do you bet with?

Write down over a certain time period the number of jockeys and stables (owners/trainers) which have the best strike rate.

You'll find that some decent jockeys who are riding outsiders in a race can often win and embarrass the short-priced favourite.

Don't be a favourite backer all the time as it's a fast way to go broke. Always go for value, but always be sensible.

As far as ratings go, there's Sky Racing and TAB which have a few picks per race and the odd forum around the place, but realistically most of winning is based on luck rather than what people say.

Only ever did it once and won almost $10,000.

Shame it was at Sha Tin in Hong Kong and they were $HK.

All I did was bet on all the Australian jockeys.
