That's really harsh, sorry to hear about that Santo. My Grand Father was killed in a hit and run 6 months before I was born in 1983, he was changing a tyre on his brand new BMW on the side of the hwy and was struck by a most likely drunk driver and killed instantly. The person who hit him never came forward and I never got to know my grand Father.

Condolences to you and your Family Santo I hope this person comes forward.

thanks for the kind posts people...

basically she lives on the same street as me. Me and my mate were loading some stuff into the back of the 4x4 in the driveway. we heard a screech and a bang and didnt think much of it... my mate was leaving at this time... i went inside told the parents about the bang, in the meantime my mate had called me and said to quickly come down the road. I went down and there she was laying on the nature strip...

Big long night and i wont get into many more details coz with the abc, ch 7, 9 & 10, herald sun, 3AW and Nova interviews has taken it out of me for the day.

We had a bit of a scare this morning with doctors thinking she had a liver problem with 50% success rate, but when the opened her up it was fine, and a problem previous to the accident was discovered. A big sigh of relief. She also went in again where they will be grafting bone from her pelvis to her legs and using steel plates to get it all back together.

If all goes well there will only be one more operation to repair her fractured pelvis/hip.

The person is gutless, how could you leave someone like that. Anyone who would have seen the interviews on the news can see what my thoughts are. It's funny, each station did a good 5 minute interview and selected 15 seconds out of what i said. I enjoyed channel 9's bull rendition focusing on my choice of word "coward" but now that i think of it that fits perfect.

I appreciate all the support, phone calls and etc. and it really does lift up our spirits to know people out there care.

Thanks once again.

santo out...

for a summary of her injuries so far:

2 x Broken Legs (1 crushed at break)
1 x Broken Knee
2 x fractures on pelvis
cracked ribs
internal bleeding
cuts and bruises on her face and body...

anyone who would have seen the photos on the news can see she is in pretty good shape for her age! 72 she is, but looks about 60... She's a strong one so i have no doubts she'll recover...

Glad to hear she is OK man, nothing worse than seeing a family member or friend in pain...still cant beleive the person who hit her didnt do anything to help! they must have been driving very irresponsibly to flee a scene like that....hopefully they get what they deserve.

Thats shocking, man, hope all goes well..

jesus my GM felt over on the driveway and almost broke her nose, ribs shes 76 too, if i imagine a hit and run on my GM, it would be really scarey.

Can not agree more, coward is to fine a word to use on this person.

dont want to get to touchy feely, but just goes to show, how its a small world, everyone kind of knows everyone on some level anyway... think about it next time your having a go at someone people.

There is an upside mate, her list of mods will be bigger than your EA's mod list once she's all better ;)

Santo, sorry to hear man.

This discust's me, what sort of excuse for a human does not have the decency to stop. It's not like 'grandmothers' can just run out in front of you either! Very sad indeed.

I hope all ends well mate.

Good to hear your grandma's a strong one and doing alright after that santo. A similar thing happened to my stepmum and she didn't make it.

Hopefully the coward who hit her will speak up, get found out or get what's coming to them.
