Default Factory phone wiring?

While my console was out yesterday i discovered my fact phone wiring. Two plugs one with 4 pins the other with 2. My question is was there ever a "factory" phone that plugged into this. Or are you supposed to get a phone kit eg motorola and modify that to suit the factory plugs? Max ellery manual makes mention of the wiring and says it works when you use a "compatible " phone? I have never seen a picture of an AU with any kind of phone setup in it...

There is a loom you can buy from Ford that plugs into a Nokia etc handsfree kit to mute the factory stereo when a call comes in. Sounds like you have it there already.

You can just plug any carkit into it. The 4 pin plug with be the stereo mute, +12v ign 12v and ground. The 2 pin plug is for the speaker. If you have a nokia kit just cut the speaker off and plug it into them. This will allow the sound from the car kit to come through the stereo speakers. Same setup as what i have done in my XR8.

My Ghia has the phone presenter and 'Ericsson' (Sven Goran?) cradle, all completely useless (according to the very knowledgable 'Stav' on these here forums) unless I have a 2000 vintage Ericsson phone :

Are you sure that it is only a matter of cutting and joining the speaker output of a Nokia car kit to the two pin plug?
Wow if so my company was ripped off $25 extra for ever car we had done. I was under the impression that some type of interface was needed for that option to work.

It also answers one of the questions iev been wanting to ask about having the phone work through the car radio speakers.

Ford au never came wih a phone. The four pin wiring is your power, mute accesories and earth. You can solder or install spade connectors into it with a phone kit with speaker output.Just be carefull as alot of kits blow up when you hook up speaker inputs.

We have had numerous AU and BA wagons at work, and they have all been done this way. After getting charged for install on the first couple, i pulled one apart to see how hard it was. Being in the electronics / security industry i didnt think it would be that hard. How i described it up above is how a well know telstra dealer down here fitted them all. So i have been doing the last few wagons as well as mine and my brothers xr8's. Had no dramas with them.

Both my T3s had them & it was only a matter of fitting the spade conectors to the kit, then pluging them in. Muted to CD/radio "TEL" would come up on the screen when a call came in. Then the call would be heard through the head unit. What a great idea!

Just fitted the same thing[ with great help from a forum member] to my BA but the wires were behind the fuse box.

My AU wagon came with a cradle for a phone, an old nokia 5110 I think. Is there any way to modify it to take any phone?

I have just fitted the ford blue tooth unit to my dads ba wagon it's easy to fit and also accepts any blue tooth phone up to eight hand sets.
I dont see that there will be a prob fitting this kit to an AU if it has the mute plug and power wires.
I will have a look in the next couple of weeks to see if it's compatible.

b2tf i think its very easy ,When fitting it to the ba the only plugs that i used from the vehcle where those two under the fuse box wich are (1) speakers (2) mute, power, acc and earth ,the other two plugs wich come from the blue tooth box are for the switch that mates/answers the bluetooth and the other was for the microphone, wich all you have to do is plug in.

I am ecstatic with the ba kit it works a treat and the bonus of bluetooth you dont have to keep changing the hands free kit every time you up date the phone and if there is more than one user of the same vehicle every body can use the kit as long as your phone is bluetooth , im certan i can make it work on the AU ute if it has the plugs there, ill be even more ecstatic. :

Default AUII XR6 Premium Sound Nokia CK7W Car Kit

Hi,

thanks to all the hints on this forum I finally today installed my Nokia CK7W Bluetooth car kit in the XR6. Got the kit off ebay for $86 inc postage.

Thought I would share my experiences in order to add to the info on the forums.

Firstly I found that the two plugs discussed that should be under the centre console were actually just under the bottom lip of the dash. Looks like the car had a kit in it in the past.

I found two plugs with 3 cables each. The wires were as below:
Plug 1
Light Green - Mute stereo
Pink - Phone Speaker
Lght Blue/Yellow - Phone Speaker (not sure which is positive and neg. also not sure if it matter)

Plug 2
Yellow - Constant 12v
Black-Yellow - Power on with accessories
Black - Earth

I then downloaded the user manual for the CK7W from the Nokia website and matched the Nokia cables to the Car cables. I just used spade connectors to push into the factory plugs and crimped them on the end of the nokia cables.

For the speaker I simply cut the plug off the end of the speaker and connected spade connectors to the wires.

Also make sure you install fuses into the power lines. It says what size in the Nokia manual.

I ran the Nokia Button to the Phone Presenter in the console so when then presenter is folded away you don't even know the car kit is there. Also the button is in easy reach while driving. I plan on just getting a cheapo phone holder to hold the phone and also mounting this on the presenter.

The only thing left is to buy and run the charger cable to the presenter to charge the phone from the kit rather than from the cigarette lighter. But that is for another day.

So far testing with my Nokia 6110 navigator has shown no echoing, excellant sound quality and very easy to use. Also you can add voice tags to contacts and use this to dial numbers with only a press of the Nokia button.

It is a brilliant setup and should work with virtually any Bluetooth phone (going to test with sons Samsung and a work iMate soon).

Anyway that's my addition hope it helps and also thanks to those who contibuted before me as I used all that info to get me started.

I know from training notes that all AUII Series Falcons had the power and ground connector from factory. Exactly where in the range did Ford start to include the second harness for the speaker and mute capabilities? Was it only available with Premium Sound?

I am looking to fit a bluetooth system soon to my XR8 (Base Audio) and I am starting to research this now.
