My dog follows me everywhere, however I lock her in the house while im welding to avoid her getting welding flash. She hates this. Does anyone know if dogs can be harmed by staring at the arc?

Yeah, they certainly can, and the silly buggers will stare at the arc all day.
Ever heard the term "blind as a welder's dog"?

Ive never had it myself but my mate got flash when we were about 13 fixing an XM tailgate. Couple days in with eye patches. Not comfortable apparently! |

This brung back memory's, when I was 15 we had this stray that came home years earlier but this dog follows me every where I remember Oxying in the floor of my XC and I smelt that fowl smell of burning hair I looked up and ther was scruff toungh out and panting away happily, hair all over her face smouldering, she was the best dog ever until she fell asleep under the left rear wheel 265's and sleeping jack Russell's don't mix :o(

I misinterpreted "can dogs get welding flash" as "can dogs do good welding" - to which I would say no...they don't have opposing thumbs or the concentraion span to weld.
