I just replaced my battery, had been in there since 2006 (8 years)
It was a champion brand battery, every couple of years i topped up the water with tap water and that was it. Have gone to Century heavy duty now, hope i get more than 2 years out of it! Have a Century overlander 4x4 battery in my Navara, been in there since i bought it 4 years ago and still going. |

Personally not a fan of maintenance free batteries, seen too many fail a little too early. Last 3 batteries ive purchased were all budget jobs with refill caps & i get at least 5 years out of them - the trick is to check water levels at service time & top up if need be.
cheers, Maka

2 years is average but is not to say that they wont last 6-8 years - batteries no longer have chemicals like anniminity in them which changed thier charge characteristics - they contain things like silver calcium etc which makes them require different charge characteristic because of the higher output requirements for lights ac electric windows etc etc.......vibration is another issue with batteries today as is underhood temps-long runs on exspressways and the opposite frequent short runs to the train-shops etc...

Good deal, most that I've seen is the pro-rata warranty.
