Default EA2BA progress update

As you are all aware, Jase has been putting in a new motor and making some wiring changes. Here are some pics from November 25.

Installation of new sound deadening material in resprayed engine bay.

The RMYERS crane™

Engine and transmission ready for coupling

Success!

November 28... the wiring begins

I'll let Jase fill you in on the subsequent progress. I'll have to get down there for some more pics soon.

Looking good, I like the sound deadening on the firewall. If my motor is pulled out again I might do the same.

I can't wait to see it finished.

Jack, thanks for putting the pics up.

Hey John, yes the $50 is ready anytime just ask

jjm - yes the rocker cover will be sprayed to match the colour of the car, will see how it all looks when done, so far this project has been more time then money.

Current progress,

Still re-routing wiring and lenghtening wires, the car is getting closer to being started, it now has the a/c condensor re-fitted, and the auto trans cooler, some more work done on the ed cowling fitment, the front radiator support is not finished needs ot be sanded, but I decided that can wait for the moment, I just want the damn thing running again at the moment.

Sound deading is about $50 for a roll to do the firewall, from trufit carpets.

Good stuff Jason. I take it you have to cut the insulation to size/shape?

If I ever bother to do any more work on my car, respraying the engine bay and replacing my half-torn insulation is definitely on the cards!

Pardon my ignorance, but what motor and what other plans have you got for it again?

The motor is an a fully rebuilt EF bottom end (I wanted serpentine the whole reason the project started), with AU head gasket, and EA head, I think premium fuel will be a requirement. Any one care to guess the comp ratio , and how do you test comp ratio.

Other plans, EL ECU will be fitted is the next after I run the motor in, got ssome tail light mods to get around too, EB/ED optional 16" rims to polish up and get tyres for, and a few other things I am sure will happen.

Looking very nice there. I havent been following this progress much but does the sound deadening material help reduce some of the engine noise does it?
And is it protected from the engine bay heat?
Keep up the good work

The material is designed for the engine bay, it's what is made for, I can't say for sure it reduces noise in the cabin. but i do know that the between cars with stuff on the firewall and cars without, you can hear a big difference in noise.

I don't see why you'd need premium, the EA's compression was 8.8 vs the EF's 9.3, both happily run normal ULP, i think the EA heads still have a larger chamber compared to the EF head so it shouldn't be too high.

I should also mention both head and block got a shave to make them square.

Is that firewall stuff from trufit??

If it is DAMN YOU! I ordered a heap of crap from them weeks ago. It took them 3 weeks to send the stuff they already had in stock (custom carpets are a 3 week wait anyway but the one i wanted they already had). So i got this massive plastic bale in the post, unwrapped it all to find the bit i really needed the firewall lining isnt there. Phone call later ' o sorry we're out of stock will send next week. That was 2 weeks ago now. They really are hard to deal with those people.

They recently moved factory, i was there about 2/3 weeks ago, right after they moved when I got my stuff, I wanted to eftpos it but they didnt have it working yet, so I said crunch the c/c then, but they could find that stuff either, walked to the servo and got money to pay cash in the end.

Well slowly but surely I am getting there, still wiring to be sorted out, and then all the bolting of everything back on, manifolds etc, I have made a new BA shifter bracket still using computer case, just looks alot neater and a little more professional. The rocker is 99% stripped back now, and almost ready for painting, same as the brake booster.
