Default Boss Head Work

G'day Chris, I remember you saying something in a post somewhere about valve problems and tapping in the Boss heads being caused through improper valve/lifter geometry.

Just wondering if you've had any experience in fixing this, and also, what other improvements have you made to forced induction Boss heads?

Cheers, Jimmy

You will get tapping from after market pistons when they are cold unless they have an offset wristpin (or gudgeon pin) as I understand. It just so happens that the custom 9.00:1 Manley forged pistons that I have (they are their 3 valve pistons but without the valve reliefs) have the OEM 1.2mm offset pins to prevent the problem. They have an arrow on the top pointing to the FRONT. I decided that 9.0:1 was the way to go for supercharging and the offset pin was just a bonus.
Cheers, Ian.
