It is because of the repeated stack custodial sentences handed to these grubs that mandatory sentencing is being introduced in Qld (and being considered elsewhere). It is all fine a dandy to give the magistrates some input into the process but when so many magistrates go soft it makes you wonder if the judiciary is nothing more than a bunch of corrupted freedom seeking socialists love-freaks. Do the crime and pay big time, Brunei has introduced stoning to death, that would be appropriate for the grubs. In some US states they vote for their judges based on the judges pledge to uphold the law which explains why so many judges have zero tolerance. At least you know what you get rather than our system which seems to involve a failed QC/SC becoming a magistrate because they know people within the government sharing their political views.

the world is a nasty place nowadays with more of this "I'll do what I please and where i please" attitude whether it be in cars or in pubs.
not sure what the answer is but society is not pleasant now. youngsters grow up with no control and little input and less care from parents and little enforcement from "touchy feely" police and we are surprised when this sort of rubbish goes on, I'm not. only going to get worse.........he's a real hero this bloke, should be real proud of himself.

The judges in this country are off their guts. I was watching the news the other night. This guy is using the ATM and gets king hit from behind then the crap kicked out of him whilst he's knocked out. The judge gives the guy a fine and no custodial sentence. What a joke, what kind of message does that send. If you're a footballer or celebrity you don't even get a conviction recorded nowadays. It's all focused on the offenders rights. If I or my family are the victims of crime I won't even bother with the police and courts. Waste of time.

A product of the lovie dovie limp wristed leftists and their idealistic ways of dealing with violent criminals. They can give themselves a pat on the back, again.
Meanwhile their is a push to raise the retirement age... so pieces of **** like this are paid to breed more pieces of **** while sitting on the dole, and when the inevitable happens, be dragged thru rehabilitation programs just to do it all again. You can bet your bottom dollar if the original Anzacs saw what traitorous scumbag decision makers would be running the country 100 years on they'd have never boarded the ships. The thread title is not quite correct.
The scumbag has already spent nearly a year in Gaol and will be eligible for parole in 12 months.

True, it is a bit over 12 months, but even if he is out in another 12 months are you happy with his sentence ?

Think back to when we were kids. Who were the people that most influenced your respect in others (particularly others)? That's right, it was our parents. Sure, the school system, extra-curricular organisations, etc had a role to play, but the primary responsibility lay with our parents. As a father to a single 9-year old girl, that is the exact approach my wife and I have taken. It is not anyone else's responsibility than ours. Any assistance we get from others is a bonus. And so far, we have had extremely positive feedback from all who know our daughter regarding her respect for others, not just her elders, but also her classmates and her younger relatives. Our job as parents is not to be friends with our kids. It is not to allow them to do whatever they want, whenever they want. It is our role to set boundaries, enforce those boundaries, ensure consequences apply when those boundaries have been breached. That is not to say that we don't love our kids, but you do need to have both. Our job is to make our kids a respectful member of society. And with respect to the "touchy feely police" comment, don't forget that our morale compass is what the police use as an indicator as to how the law is written, interpreted and applied. So, again, that reflects on the general attitude of society as a whole. Craig H

Even with time served I feel the sentence is too short, but I hope the video and story of what happened makes it to those he now resides with and that they make his sentence feel a whole lot longer!

Having worked with a **** load of police in my time the usual response I got was they try not to think about the sentences as it would just drove them mental so they push it to one side and keep arresting people for the same thing I had one guy come back a year after he stabbed and old lady and stole her car in the carpark I told him to **** off and tried to get him banned when I was doing security for a local shopping centre the law was he had done his time so could come and go as he pleases so I imposed my own ban and hounded the ****** till he left every time

yes they can but have you tried to get the owner of a major shopping center to do anything a lowly guard requests of them to do not to mention you need there name and address for the letter then to hand it to them and get them to agree they understand what it means and its got a time limit anyway and you have to do it again once it ends its a crock of ****. It should be like pub laws where you banned straight away for this much time done and dusted but apparently being an ******** in a club or pub is worse then a crowded shopping centre with small child everywhere for some reason.

Some people are not fit to be in society and should be kept away from society. People like this are the lowest of the low and are simply not right in the head. Punishment for things like this should always be many times more than any fraud or stealing case etc. etc.

This young fella was just merely just warning them old dudes not to be out that late, as he just showed them what can happen and it was only one of him not a gang like it mainly is, that will all kick ya when you are down or knife ya. yes it's true the young man ( 'person' ) ( can't call any gender sorry as you all know that's not right for you today ) did wrong but we lefties know best for all of you lot. In my day this idiot would have to leave town for kicking them two like that and that's for sure and never come back. |

I don't know about that i think being kicked the **** out of is better than some cunning dog destroying you for what you have worked damn hard for ( i would maybe kill trash that did that because i work hard for my money and hate my job and feel like i have just gone a couple of rounds with Mike Tyson at the end of the day, but if i was a pen pusher i don't think i would then) and i have been attacked many times by mobs of asswipes. the first time i was in grade 3 the first day at a new school and many more after that and no one gave a toss and the thing is i never had even talked to the attackers or even knew them at all. Fraud is the worst, would you like to lose everything and be out on the street due to no fault of your own and i have seen that happen and the fraudster is still admired by others and thinks he is just a smart cookie proud of himself and looks down his nose at the good people he destroyed with contempt that they trusted or had faith in him. to him it's just business and people don't come into it at all as they are just something to be used. and i am sad to say that is becoming very common in today's new age moronic foolish world. |

The secondary crime here is that this piece of crap made it to court.
He should have been bashed and permanently rendered a vegetable by inmates within a week. No witnesses of course. |

It clearly says he will be eligible for parole from 2 January 2015. Until then, stiff bikkies, you're staying put regardless of how much of a "good boy" you have been in prison (now there's an oxymoron if I ever saw one).
