I have a leak at the bolt at the top of the hose where it threads into the pump seal. Is there meant to be an O-ring there?
I think it is a different hose to the 6cyl also. Can anyone confirm this?

by the way, whats actually happened is that i have had a mad leak and running out of fluid. Ive just been topping it up over the last week or so until i had time to get to it. The leak has reduced but im not getting any fluid to the steering now, but theres still a slow leak at the top bolt but the pump still has plenty of fluid in it.
Maybe i ive damaged something with on going use while low on fluid?

Has the pump ever been dry?
Pretty sure it's just replace the O-ring and that's a good start. Mattered also a switch in the PS rack. It's possible that may have died and that's the issue. |

My EL is doing the same thing, the O ring wears out, I don't think you can replace it.
Repco sells a replacement hose, its a common thing, also have a look at the Alternator, if you leave it too long, they leak into the alternator and it screws the slip rings, if you get a new alternator done, they won't warrant it unless you also replace the power steering hose. If its a V8 this might not apply. |

just unscrewed the hose again and as i was turning, there was a build up of pressure and fluid was spitting out the more i turned. I took it off and started it up to release the pressure (cleaned up the mess lol) and put the hose back on. There is no fluid getting to the steering system. So im guessing its either a blockage in the hose or the pump. Not playing with it this weekend. Its my only car, i live on my own and ive got no way of getting parts until pay day. Ill go to the mechanics on monday with it and get him to have a squiz for me. It never ends.

If you're thinking of hanging on to it for a while, give Enzed a call. They should be able to make you up something that's a lot better than the current Ford set up. Not sure on price though.

Shaun check with Ford as if i remember correctly they actually changed the design of the connection due to this, I have a feeling it might have been after Series I but would still be worth asking the question.

It would be pirtek here and it's pretty expensive. The switch in the PS Rack has something to do with how it all works. And I know when it fails it effects lubrication. But sounds like your high pressure pump hose is blocked. Try spencer gulf bearings for one. If not maybe Whyalla brake and clutch and then repco/auto pro. But it's not going to be cheap.
