Time has come to replace the Brake Pads on the Ute.
Whats everyone using and what can they recommend? Anyone using EBC Greenstuff?

Bendix Advance are pretty good all rounders. The pads you should get depend on what you want to use the car for, but Advance are a good compromise between effectiveness, resistance to fade, lack of dust (though there is always dust), no squeal and a good feel through the pedal.

I just has Bendix Advance put on the front ... and they have been great ... my rotors needed replacing and was told that I'd have squealing issues and disc warping ... funny thing is that I don't though and the pads have been great. I have great peal feel ... and fade is rare (even when loaded right up.)
I have heard the Greenstuff chew through the rotors quite badly ... but the Blackstuff is kinder on the discs and is just as effective in braking performance ... the Greenstuff works better when you really heat the brakes up though. I was advised (when i get the Tickford rotors and 4-piston calipers to go with the Blackstuff if i wanted to save my discs and still have good braking performance for courier work/heavy city driving under load. I have heard good things about Ferodos ... they wear kinda quick though ... but braking is excellent.

Same I'd rather change pads than rotors ... especially when i upgrade to the 330mm discs later on.
I'd hate to the Brembo package ... a TS50 was in at Cresent Motorsport the other day ... it needed new rotors as they were under minimum thickness .. and needed new pads ... one new Brembo 360-something mm rotor = $1000 ... OUCH ... the pad was something like $250 per pair ($500 just for the front pads all up). Found out the part number on the T3 TS50 was the same part number as the Ferrari F40/F50.

How about Bendix Ultimates? Ive only heard good things about them....thats what i plan on putting on the XR once my current stock ones wear....
Anyone know how Ultimates are on rotors? James |

Ferodo formula pads at the front and ferodo XL's in the rear......If EBC made them for the seriers II on wards i would go for them but they dont so i'll settle for the Ferderal mogul's Ferodo.

The Bendix Ultimates w/stock rotors, had good bite, and pulled up well....but they used to fade real quick (scary on old pac hwy). They annihilated the stock rotors. I fitted Ferodo Formulas w/DBA slotted about 60,000kms ago. They pulled up a little better than ultimates, firmer pedal than ultimates, and they just dont fade....Never took them to the track though. Pads have just run out, rotors look fine (no ridge). I'll be using Ferodo Formula DS2500s (I had DS2000's) front and Formula Excels on the rear next pad change along with some good fluid i.e. Motul RBF 600. Maybe some Goodridge braided lines too.

I vote for the Formula's also, have them with the DBA4000 slotted. Work great,bit of dust but not as bad as Ultimate's.
You got it about right xr8ute. I have had slotted rotors on my AU for over 90,000k's mind you I have worn 3pairs at the front but I drive hard and I get them cheap luckily. Used many pad names over the years and atm for the money Ferodo have it right for now from sources in the game.

After a month or so yes but I did the wrong thing of not getting the rotor skimmed and thought that was the reason, got them skimmed and caked on some anti squel goo at the back of the pads and there fine for ages now.
Bucknaked has the same combo, I knew he had some clip issues but no other issues.

I put $29 brake pads in the front my EB a few months back in a bit of an emergency, and I was surprised at how bad they weren't. I don't get dramatic fade coming down Mount Dandenong as I used to regularly, and haven't had any problems with dust or excessive squeeling.
That said, I've got a set of Bendix Advance (with asbestos) ready to go in... |

Have used EBC... they rooted the rotors. Ferodo Excels... NO grip when cold (living on a hill is scary). Will now go back to Lucas pads which have always been great!

bendix ultimates are ultimate..
just so bloody dusty.. i just weighed it up that a bit of black dust on my front wheels doesnt bother me coz i can now stop on a 10 cent piece...

I replaced a set of Zircon pads (never heard of them before) that were squealing with Bendix Advance pads on standard rotors. No squealing anymore and dust is very minimul. Performance for me anyway is more than acceptable.
Anyone want a set of Zircons? |

Very happy with my EBC greens and slotted rotors, from my experience, you have to give them a few hard times when bedding in or they glaze up.
However performance at least with single piston calipers is great and my new 18's help with cooling much more than my 16's which have very small gaps to let air in After a couple stops, they work fine from then on. Extremely low dusting, seal or wax the wheels to prevent dusting between washes However blackstuff's may be an option if you want more durability

i just had a bit of an issue with what i thought was my last set of pad on my rear brakes sqeeking and rubbing, but turned out to be a bent left rear axle! :
but i just changed to Bendix Advanced and have not heard a peap out of them so far. I just had to make sure i bedded them in properly for the first 100kms or so. They seem to stop very well, although i am not gain to hammer them just yet, dont want them to move and end up squeeking on me too. |
