Default 302 Windsor compression rates.

Please advise....What is the difference in compression of the open and closed chamber heads of a stock engine?

Default Re: 302 Windsor compression rates.

on the clevelands it was 8.0:1 for open and 8.8:1 for closed. the closed chamber head have a smaller combustion area but that doesnt mean other areas of the chamber arnt altered to make the same compression, valve relief for example. the 302w only had the closed design and it was the 351w that got both over the years and significantly changed size in the smog era.
