Default Falcon and Commodore Diffs the same???

I can get a Commodore diff cheap for parts
Bloke says internals are the same as AU Falcons, made by Borg Warner
I remember once Ford sent me to Holden for a diff compression spacer when they had none and it was the same.

Anyone know for sure, never worked on Holdens....

Thanks

Nah not quite, Holden have the Borgwarner 75, we have the Borgwarner 78. That being said Holden diffs from the VL through to VT? will fit in fords. You probably would only want the VL one anyway because they had a 3.7ish ratio. Skyline R31 and Pintara R31 diff gears will also fit.

Some diff places will tell you it can't be done but they know nothing. If your in Melbourne try Victoria Automatic and Differentials. How noisy it will be depends on the condition of the gears and how well you set it up. If the gears are in good nick and its set up properly it will be the same as you got now.

Thanks for that

The main bit I want is the square cage piece that the star gears and shafts go in, then I can assemble an AU diff to put in my BA.

Sounds like it will be worth a try

Everything that had a 6 or V8 is the BTR78 housing. Gears out of all of these are interchangable. VL's had 3.45's too. Skylines had 3.7, 3.9 and 4.11 in the Pintara.

I think you'll find that the IRS centres are different though.

Yep, they are different. I think Dana do the diff's in the BA's (along with the rest of the IRS module).
