Unbelievable luck!!!

Well the au has been going awesome.This weekend im doing 1/4 ...finally. Tonight the engine is clacking noisy.Either my cam lobe has gone or my lifter with its shims have packed it in. I have come this far and still will run it in this state.It is a clack clack clack.It sounds like too much valve lash gap...Only when the revs come up.New oil made no difference.

buggger!!Maybe ill sort it by Sunday?

Dude you have to get to this drag day no matter what.

I think everyone is very interested in what your car will do versus what your g-tech says. It'll be very interesting.

Just work mate. I am suspecting a lifter.I am doing oil changes every3 weeks.Im doing heaps of kays.Its not super loud but when i stuck my ear under the bonnet it just clacked when I held the throttle.It is around exhaust 5 or six.The car is drivable but wont be seeing any more than 3000 rpm until I sort it out.The good thing is though that I have 6 spare lifters and 20 shimms in my tool box...from when I was fully mucking with it.So I am hopefull

The gtech people emailed me and said gtech is typically .4 slower than real life due to roll out of 12 inches.

Ah bugger it I might do it tonight.I can remove the rockers,install new shims and lifters in 30 minutes...

When it warms up in the morning I am gonna rev it to 6000rpm to loosen the mutha up a bit!!!Im going into garage now!!!

There is an easy fix for clacking lifters, multiple 6000rpm blasts under load sorts them out. If you engine grenades it needed replacing anyway. I raced my car with a blown head gasket, fixed it right up. I gaurentee WSID will do the same for your motor.

Drag race the sucker. DOOOOOO IT.

I think you are pretty spot on.However if the full lift of the cam doesnt reach th valve I wont have optimum power.I will run it but I am thinking some good revs tommorow may well loosen the lifter or make it worse.If it gets worse then it will be more obvious when I m forced to check it.On the other hand some good revs may loosen and pump up this dicky lifter.

In all seriousness though, i find i worry much less about tapping/rattling noises in my ute when i am listening to loud music. I'll bring some Iron Maiden for you to listen to on your way down the 1/4. Problem solved.

For sure...but dont forget your tow chain ok...I am going to name my car rattlesnake from now on..A trip to the raaf richmond base may be what the doctor ordered.90 minutes up and then back another 90 hopefully loosen it up.
