Default Hi from a new member! and potentially a couple of questions :)

Hi there,

My name is Steve. Just joined up because i am starting to once again, work on my 73 Escort Panelvan. It's been a few years since i've done anything to her, but i have some time now and a slight trickle of money

I am new to pretty much everything i'm doing, and just working off youtube videos and google

I took the starter motor out this evening (from my 2 litre pinto) to check it and am getting no response at all from either the starter or the solenoid when hooking it up to the battery with jumpers. A friend of mine offered me an XF Falcon starter motor. Is there a chance it could be compatible? (i realize this question will need far more info)

Depending on interest to the post, ill post some photos of the van and parts in question. Thanks all,

Hope to get a lot out of and give as much as i can to this community.
Steve

that one you have looks like a lucas with the phillps screws on the sides

any way looks close to the XF worth a try

remind your mate that its a Ford
and should have a lifetime parts replacement guarrantee if it fits

Cool thanks for the info. I will probably give it a shot. What does the lifetime parts replacement guarrantee mean for him/me?

how did you manage to get your hands on a 2 ltr ford pinto finished production in 1980

there is no ford pinto forum in here

and interesting car i must say

main fault was the early 73 ford pinto runabout
the fuel tank --one rear ender and the burst into flames because of the exhaust /muffler position no bumpers

the later models 74-88 were forced to ad bumpers and better tanks

oh that
lifetime parts replacement guarrantee ....when used by any repair company

an old marketing slogan that didn't last long ..

Its fixed or its free ....now only means "the part fitted "not the labour and shop costs to you

I think he means the 2.0 sohc escort/cortina motor known as pinto not the failed American car.
