Default Fuel Economy

So what do you get? I average about 600km a tank. Fords 6.9l/100km would equal 650km, but I've never been near that. Usually doing about 40km a day commuting during the week + running around gets 2 weeks from a tank.
Drove from Hobart to Wagga & back in the last week & a tank of 98 octane certainly went further on the return trip. Think it might have cleaned the injectors, might try a cleaner. Air filter could probably use a clean as well.
So what's everyone else getting?

Wouldn't have a clue since the WP doesn't have a trip computer, but I do get good economy out of it. 30$ would net me around half a tank (from 2 bars left). Would be better if I had a manual :p

Ive heard there is quite a gap between auto fiesta vs manual. My Mum's got a 2006 LX auto and around town, running aroud etc it uses just under 10L/100km.

Anything between 450km's to 570km's out of a tank, depending on how much traffic I get stuck in. Best economy 7.2L per 100km's, worst 8.7L per 100km's. Averaging about 8L per 100km's now that I am driving peak hour every day.

98 is good, just real hard to find down here. Wish I'd filled up in Melbourne on monday.

WP does have a trip computer (zetec does) not exactly sure about LX.
just press the odometer button down and it switches between total k's and trip k's.

I average about 550km behaving well :evil3:
thats with K&N panel and 98RON

I'm an up-tight mechanical engineer, so I've got a 2 1/2 years worth of pretty accurate fuel consumption data for my Zetec now.

I've tried both 95 & 98 RON petrols and found basically NO difference in fuel consumption. I use 95 because the engine doesn't ping as much when you put your foot down - still does a bit though. Even on 98 she pings occasionally.

I do 45km each day to and from work (three quarters boring freeway) and thrash around a bit on weekends - I rarely get less than the factory combined 6.8 litres / 100km. I managed a 6.0 once when I was trying really hard to be good. A tank lasts me two and a half weeks on average

On the other hand, our Territory AWD Ghia slurps its way through 15 litres / 100km if you are kinda gentle. Thrash it and you pay big time - a full tank is $100+. There's an instantaneous fuel consumption readout on the dash that hits 100 litres / 100km when you mash it at the red light drags...

You guys need to stop quoting per "tank" and need to record the actual litres you've used for the mileage you are quoting so we can compare apples to apples. When i fill up i could put anywhere from 37 to 42 or so liters in it (just depends on when i get to a servo), it makes a huge difference to the litres per 100klm figure compared to just saying per tank.

If you zero the odometer when you fully fill up, then record the the milage and the amount of fuel you put in to the car next fill, you will have a true reading... then you can dived that into lt/100klm
Do that, then post the numbers on here and we could get some real figures (as people like FezBoy and myself have done in the past).

I typically get 6.7-6.9 lt/100klm but i'm on the freeway for about 65% of my driving (manual WP zetec). I never have had the car ping on any type of fuel, but perfomance in the mid range seems slightly better when its had some 98RON in it.

However, wich this current tank i'm on i've had the gauge run down and the fuel light come on a faily noticeably amount earlier than normal i need to fill it up in the next day or so, i'll post up what i've found, might be the sign of some due maintenance?

I get about 9L - 9.5L per 100km, all suburban driving getting to work and back through the week.

When I put per tank I meant as near to empty as comfortable. Not technical I know, but not hard to understand.
600km per tank = 7.5L/100km, half city & half country. Don't think I've ever got it under 7, this tank is looking like 7.25L/100km going by the distance to empty + trip meter.

Around 9 - 9.5L/100kms on start-stop traffic.

Around 7.6 - 8L/100kms during cannonball cruises.

maybe it went further coz you were driving downhill coming back

04 auto zetec ...furthest ive been is 540 freeway driving from goldcoast to syd ...funny story...i let my mate drive whilst i had a nap ...he wakes me up in the middle of nowhere with the petrol light on saying "i think we need petrol" i think it was running on fumes by the time we found a petrol station... petrol light had been on for around 15mins ...this was around 11pm at night
ended up detouring to Forster looking for a petrol station... most of them were closed
Anyway ...i usually average around 440 odd ...thats with 1 bar left on the guage...

After concerns i had that the car was starting to use more fuel, its been as good as ever!
I got 6.63 lt per 100klms last tank. about 75-80% freeway driving on that tank, but i still rev it out most gear changes when not on the freeway though. The freeway cruising will always make it look better of course.

Filled it up this morning, got 7.7L/100km, I think it's the worst I've seen.
Using Gas Hog on the ipod touch to keep track of fuel economy, very handy app.

just the app store. Under utilities. Handy on the touch because I usually have with me on the way to work. I'm sure there'll be something else like for pc's or whatever.

Filled up today & was pleasently surprised to get 6.2L/100km, a personal record. Changing to BP from Caltex for the last fill has done wonders. Filled with Shell this time. Won't be going back to Caltex anytime soon.

Filled up today, I got 7.07lt/100klm this tank.
I'm not suprised it was higher though as i was giving the fez quite a bit of stick the other day, the rest of the driving was my typical mostly freeway/highway commuting.

I've recently started documenting my fuel consumption with a simple spreadsheet on the computer. rather nerdy if you ask me. it's even got rough description of driving throughout the week. LOL anyway, got 6.9L/100km 2 weeks ago, and 6.85L/100km this week.

so I was talking to my gf's brother and he was saying on the renault forums he chats on, there was some talk about the way you drive and fuel economy. as in, if you keep your engine running within the 2000-2500 rpm range when commuting, you'll be saving petrol and also helping maintain your engine's integrity. i, myself, haven't really read into the issue, but i'd be happy to hear anyone's thoughts on the idea.
