Default frozen post counts

Aight, now i know im gonna get called a post whore by all of you guys, but i feel this a legitiment question about the site.

im not the only one who ahs experienced it but for some reason our post count is frozen, i just noticed it last night while replying to somethings cause someone asked what number i was up to.

So i had a look and it felt like it was at that number earlier in the day, so i meade f couple more posts and it was still the same.

at first i thought it was my pc being a tool like it is, but i asked a couplde more people and they said they were experienceing tha same problem.

not at all fussed about it, coz now it wont show up how much i post now so people will stop calling me a whore, but i thought i should bring it up since it does have relevence to the forum etc.

thanx for ya time guys

There is an issue with the Bar, in which all post dont go towards post counts.

Nothing big really, just the quality of some posts need to be questioned.

Just bear with us until the technical glitch is fixed, it has been placed in the queue and will be delt with by the next available operator....(insert music here)...

i think the post count should be tossed out the window that way you won't get gibberers sprouting about nothing just to get there post count up and beat diddly dumps down the road,,get rid of it theres no need for it..

It's a new feature we've added called the "BollockyPostCount-o-Meter™"

Simply put.. if the forum detects bollocks in your post.. it doesn't go towards your post count!

Oh wait.. sorry.. you've come to the wrong department.. I'll put you through to technical...

[Bling Bling Hold Music......]

Surely I didn't get a tally for that post!! :

I've never looked at my post count ever and I dont post to get the post count up so it aint really something that affects me at all. As of right now i dont have a clue how many posts im on until I post this lol.
Didn't even realise there was a drama with the counter! Still Fellas, great work on the forums! Its still awesome, I'm finding myself hooked to it more and more!

post counts do actually serve a purpose....and its not about whoring.

it shows people how active each user is....without post counts, you have no idea how active the person is without checking out each individual profile which would just be stupid

damn i had forgotten all about this thread but i agree with mad wob, post counts just show how active people are, even if half their posts are bollocks, i reckon its better to have more active people posting alot then ahev alot of emmbers who dont post much at all.

just my 2c

I am also in favour of getting rid of post counts. You have people who sit here all day posting crap with 500 posts or more but none of them are actually helpful or worth reading. Who cares how many posts someone has, what if someone likes to read more than post but when they do post its actually either good info or worth reading? Would you ignore their opinon or advice just because of the post count?

it has nothing to do with who you listen to or who's advice you take.... :MrT_anim:

its a way to see which users are active, and which are not.

the old ff has well over 10,000 members, but before this site was opened i'll guarantee you that about 50% never even came back to the site anymore.

Just because a member is 'active' doesn't mean that their posts are worth reading. There are many people that are members of this site that have bugger all posts & I can tell you that their thoughts & opinions are much more valid than some people who have large counts.

Big post counts unfortunately doesn't mean intelligent conversation..

Sorry mate but I can't agree on that..

One thing I hate on message boards is trawling through 15 pages of crap to find something worth talking about. As a director I would much rather have a board with low posts per day with a high quality of conversation taking place.

I might be in the minority but it is certainly one of my dreams for this site to be a focal point for intelligent conversation about Ford & the automotive industry in general, rather than another message board that full of useless crap.

sorry you feel that way bro........

looks like someone wont be posting responses to posts much anymore

like when someone posts a joke or sumthing or a pic of their car, i wont be there showing that vie read it and like it or to tell teh owner how much i like the look of their car etc etc

i think half of the "worthless" posts are what alot of people enjoy cause some of them, while have no useful info can be wuite funny or interesting.

if the forum was filled with only useful posts with no character or stuff like that, what fun would it be, it would be just like a help center or library

if anyone wants me ill be keeping an eye on my post count.

so i guess that makes 4c now.

My View

There will be people that post like mad, there will be others that only have quality posts, and then there are others in the middle

I can live with all, sometimes the line is crossed with regards to content, and accordingly are moderated, deleted or edited.

If you help out one person a day with anyone of your posts then its worth the rest.

Fun can be had in the bar, and shortly the DM forums.

Agree with FM though as to making the forums a focal point for informed discussions

And on that point I agree with you 100%!

A purely serious message board is indeed the opposite side of the coin which is also crap!
As with most things in life, it's finding that delicate balance of both that makes it informative & fun at the same time..
