Smile I LOVE MY GIRL! Help please!

Ive been with my girlfriend for a year now and thinking about asking her to marry me....

A lot of people think a year is too soon, but I know I will spend the rest of my life with her so I think the time is right.

Does anyone have any great ideas on a real romantic way to do it? Im kinda a dunce in that department.

I nearly did it the other night during 'you know what' and of course thats a very bad idea!

So what do you all think?

Personally a nice exhaust, turbo and set of mags should do the trick, maybe a quick dress up with a clay bar and wax.

I hope she is garaged so there is no temptation at night.

Remind her that if she gives you any trouble then its back to the lot for a trade in.

You forgot the neons and pink fluffy dice, nothing will win her over like them hahahaha

I'm with Shockwave XR8 on this one, a very unusual first post for a car forum. But anyway mate good luck with it all.

Have you lived with her yet ?

There'd be no way I'd commit to anyone before living with them. That's when you learn all about their bad habits.

Firstly, a year is not too soon if ya love her mate.

Heres some ideas for popping the question:

1. propose at a family dinner, that way, she cant say no.

2. propose in a public place like myer shopping centre, so she cant say no.

3. propose at McDonalds, after you buy yourselves a happy meal

4. get down on your knees and pleasure her first...

5. do it during sex, while shes screaming yes :

now that you've read these ideas - do the opposite.

i would personally take her to the beach, whatever she likes, do it romantic,

whatever u do get down on your knee and ask...girls love that .

wow i never realised what a sensitive new aged guy i am (tear)

Do what I did, offer her a new car or a ring. I knew mine was a keeper when she chose the car! That swift little move might have cost me a couple of bucks but it has given me years of payback.

ps - I got the bum end somehow, we were married four years later, and yes, she still has her engagement car..... and the rings.

i've been engaged for over four years and nothing has really changed in the way we go about our business from what it was like before the engagement. So yes, you can still be engaged for a while before you have to tie the knot. We'll do it some day, when we can be bothered :P

Good luck mate.

First there is the Engagement Ring.
Next the Wedding Ring.
Then the Suffering.

How old are you both? Have you been out with lots of girls before this one? Be very sure before you make a commitment you may regret.

Now, if you are after proposal suggestions, I think you can't beat a romantic dinner at a restaurant that you can't afford (no, I don't mean Hungry Jack's). Have your dinner and then say to her you have pre-ordered dessert. Ask the waiter to put the Engagement Ring on a plate with a cover and present it to her (make sure you tell him to disappear after). Then ask her the big question.

Ohh.. and make sure you keep the receipt for the ring, just in case..LOL

my opinion, but its something you have to decide for yourself, not something for a bunch or forum users to decide for you.

.....if you dont know how to ask the girl of your dreams to marry you, then you arent ready to get married....

Do not ask her friends. Trust me, she will want to tell them herself, and no matter how much they say they won't tell her.. they will.
Leave it to yourself, if you are old fashioned, ask her family.
Tell yours.. but do not tell her friends!

If you are ready to ask her to spend the rest of her life with you, then congratulations.

As for a way to ask her, do something that means something.

I don't know your budget, so a few ideas are:
Take her on a picnic.
Take her away for a weekend.
Cook her a lovely dinner and propose over dessert.

It depends what you are both into. I love watching sunsets - particualy the bit where the trees turn into black silhouettes against the firey sky.
My hubby took me on a afternoon trip to the beach, and we watched the sun set. He then asked me to be his wife.
Awww - sappyness aside, it was lovely, as it meant a lot to me.

Are you thinking of buying a ring before you propose?
After you propose? Or buying a stone, and allowing her to get it set in a style she chooses?

Good Luck, however you chose to go about it!
