Yeah, it is 68 litres but it is possible to put more in! One time I put in about 72 litres!

Every 6 cyl Falcon sedan from EA to BF has a 68 litre tank.

And I'm almost 100% certain the same goes for the V8 sedans. And all the Falcon wagons. And Fairlane/LTD. Only the ute's have bigger tank varieties. And the LPG cars. The AUII - BF E-Gas sedans have a 90 litre tank.

just 1 other question, how many litres roughly would u have left in the tank when the petrol warning light comes on?

Depends on the model.

E series roughly 6-10 litres,
AU - BF roughly 10-15 litres

I was under the impression the wagons got a 70 or 72 litre tank?

From what I know E series sedans are 68 litres (useable, you'll cram more in tho)
wagons are a 72 litre tank useable, can cram more in tho (have a reciept for dads EF wagon, 75 litres :S)

Mine comes on around the same time as when the distance to empty on the trip computer says 80kms. As my car uses about 11L/100kms, it means there should be around 8 or 9 litres left in the tank when the light comes on. Not a very accurate method, but should be somewhere around that mark. And Dave, you're right. The e-series wagons had a 72 litre tank.

LOL. I achieved it all with no spillage. It was a bit depressing handing over $95 to pay for it though. The trip computer was reading that I could have gone another 12 kms before running out of fuel. I'd hate to have seen what the quality of the remaining fuel was like. Would have had all sorts of crap in it.

Remember you can fill the tank and the fuel filler neck. Which adds probably a litre or two.

and also you have to add the small amount in the lines and the filter... the wagons had 72 litres... i remember thinking why they had bigger tanks... still dont know???
yeah my trip meter said about 80ks to empty in my ghia... had it down to saying 4km one day... probably running on fumes and particles... i have found with any car you can get at least 50ks out of the petrol light... depends on how you drive though, but sensibly youll get at least 50...
