There are a few car sales people on the forums, I am sure they will help you out with info soon enough.

from my understanding, you do not need a dealers licenCe. unless you wanted to open up your own dealership or car yard. but im sure some of the car salesman on the forums will correct me if im wrong.

Well I went into my local holden dealer and asked the sales rep. He said that it is best to have some experience by doing a course so that I just don't jump into a career I know nothing about. I rang Bankstown tafe and they said that the next course starts in July. Sign ups start in May.

I'm going to leave school because it really isn't for me. Get a part time job, save up, get my license and buy a car. I hope to have all those thing by July. When I finish my course I will aplly for a job at as many dealerships I can find. Once I have the job I will quit my day job. So if all goes to plan I will have my licence, car and be working as a car dealer by December. Wish me luck and thankyou to everyone that has helped.

At least finish year 12 part time at tafe, if you don't you will really regret it down the track.

and you have to have a drivers licence to be a car sales man, so you may as well finish off school.

Ray (aulien) was told years ago that if he bought another car he would have to apply for an LMCT, he had bought 9 in 12 months!

Are you saying that is how I am acting now or how I should act if I want to be a salesman?

It sounds tounge in cheek, for all the poor service at dealership threads you see.

As for Ford Boy's question, I would skip the Tafe course for getting in to sales and get your head in to the paper looking for jobs. There is always postions out there selling cars, you will learn more in a month at a dealership than you will ever learn in Tafe.

A better idea (if you're not into school) is to get your backside into an apprenticeship. Skilled labour will be in absolute drought in 5-8 years time, dramatically worse than now. Someone's going to need to know how to build all the retirement villages and refurb all the houses aren't they?

in Vic it really only matter to how many cars you sell in a year.
if you have no LMCT munber you can sell 4 in a year but some questions will probably be asked about the 4th car sold.
you can buy as many as you like, but once again, if you newly register 4 in a year, some questions may be asked.
