A number of members have expressed a desire to update the current AFF header, as appears at the top of the page.
The AFF admin team is interested in hearing what you have to offer, thus we are running a competition to come up with the best possible design(s) If you are interested the comp is up and running in the photoshop subforums. http://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11207401 |

I think we should wait until the new model falcon is released so a picture of that is included in it, otherwise it will appear out of date almost immediately

I would have thought it prudent to wait until the reveal of the Orion Falcon to ensure all entries incorporate the most recent Falcon and do not become outdated almost immediately after conception.

The banner is not about the model but what has made this site and current branding incorporation

I too believe the banner should wait until Orion for the exact reasons above. I dont see what the branding has to do with it as the sponsors get a rolling banner anyway. Although its a public holiday and I could have missed your point completely.

Sponsors don't have anything to do with branding or banner.
Im talking about the fordforums.com.au The Australian Ford Forum I dont see this being implemented by weeks end either, it will be a timely process.

So basically - when the Orion is replaced by the next model then we will be back at square one.
One of the biggest 'problems' that many members put forward was that it was tooo model specific. In light of the fact that the models were still very much in the forefront of peoples minds when the site was originally launched - the models were quite applicable. The Orion model holds no more importance in the banner then any of the other Ford models out there (point of fact it can be argued even less relevance as there will be far fewer members out there with one of their own) My choice of wording in 'update' would probably have been better if I had said freshened up with a different look, or altered to include other models etc. The intention is to acknowledge certain items other then just those items in the current banner. It would appear that regardless of what happens, there will be those that oppose either the timing, or change itself. The competition is up and running. |

Well a whole new model only comes out every 5 years, so I dont see the issue. In the banner it would be be good to have say the GTHO P3 (as everyone knows it) and the new Orion GT.
You wil never make everyone happy, but trying to find a middle ground is hard; but worth while IMO.

Does the banner need to be static, or could it morph from XK through all Falcons to Orion.
When I say all I just mean, the pick of each model, XR to XB GT, XC GXL, ESP's, maybe skip EA S's and jump to the XR's, TS50 (TE50??) and back to the GT of new. That way it could be updated with the newer model. Maybe have the engines of each morph next to them to show the engine changes for each model. Too complicated? I suppose for sticker purposes it would need to be static. |

My 2 cents.
Big Pete posted these ages ago. Big credit to him. It is straight to the point and looks awesome. Concidering the current is in .jpg format and about 30kbs, you should be able to get away with a rotating .gif, or just dump in an image rotate HTML script which you can set the length of rotations etc.. In regards to the content. To make everyone happy, how about an image of Fords current line up to start, then throw in a bit of everything. An XR4 here a GTHO there BF Falcon here, Anglia there etc. No point calling this place a "FORD FORUM" if everyone is biased as to what images should represent the site. Mix it up a bit and think outside the sqaure. Its ment to accomodate everything FORD not just Falcon....... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ffBanner_1.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ffBanner_2.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ffBanner_3.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ffBanner_4.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ffBanner_5.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ffBanner_6.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ffBanner_7.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ffBanner_8.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ffBanner_9.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...fBanner_10.jpg

I'm kinda happy with what is there, but what ever happens I don't think it will please everyone. Those that own Falcon will want a Falcon there, those with a Territory will want one of those there, those with a Focus will want one of those there etc, etc..... I'm sure you all see my point.
How about we don't have a specific car there. I'm not very artistic or creative but why not include to Ford badge, the Aussie flag, or country outline the wording and go from there??????? Just thoughts......

Another vote for multiple banners covering different models/ages. A random banner each page load is a bit much, but if there's a script for a banner per day or something like that, then there will be less loading. I guess the branding then would be the text and the style of the pics, rather than the content of them. eg all faded blue on black or whatever...?
