Default Weight of Ford and Chev/Holden V8's

I've read a lot of stuff about the Boss 5.4 being basically a truck engine pressed into service in a road car. Whether that is true or not is beside the point as it seems to do a pretty good job.. What I'm curious about is whether the Chevs that Holden uncrate and whack in the Dunnydores weigh more or less than the Boss/Triton engine. Are they any better off than us regarding kg's hanging over the front axle?

LS1/2 is lighter than Ford's 4.0L inline 6, which is about 70kg lighter than a Boss 5.4

Ouch.. That alloy block really makes a difference. Roll on 2010 and Hurricane

Mundine weighs less than Tyson, I know who I'd rather cop a punch off.

We can thank the cast iron block for that...I still prefer an iron block than an alloy block though...much much stronger.

Have you ever had to rebuild an alloy compressor? You may as well throw them away when the rings wear out, the old cast iron ones can be rebuilt over and over.

Also ive heard of a few boss engines twin turboed but not as many 6.0L chev's. I'd rather have a cast iron to if I was planning on some major mods.

Another disadvantage with the alloy blocks is heat soak.
