Default transmision cooler

Ok, so i recieved a transmision cooler yesterday, and it came with a kit and instructions on installing it into an AU.
Ive taken the front bumper off, and as i try to fit the transmission cooler, the plastic end of 1 of the hornes is just in the way, is it possible to move the hornes or maybe turn them so the opening faces a different way? in the pic its being fitted to a futura, mines an XR6.

You can move the horns where ever you want, it will still work the same.

actually i just solved the problem by turning the trans cooler around, as long as the leads reach where theyve got to go, will it matter that the plugs are facing the passenger not the driver?

It wont matter which way it goes .. are you still using the radiator as well or just the cooler ? there have been a few radiators split internally filling the auto with coolant, resulting in big repair bills. Personally I would bypass the radiator all together.

guys i really need a bit of advice here. ive tried unscrewing it again and its just bending the pipe, also it stops unscrewing and starts to spin the big metal plug on the radiator.
Im thinking i might just go further down the line and cut the pipe off, and clamp the hose over the pipe. is this the right thing i should do, or is there a better solution?

When i changed my radiator out, the pipes were easy to take out, no bending. Just unscrew the the metal thing around the pipe that goes into the radiator and pull the pipe out.

If i remember correctly the transmission pipe widens at the end, so you may have to cut the pipe, but i may be wrong.

I cut my lines about 5 cms from the ratiator just incase I had to return to stock, I could with just a small piece of hose and ring clamps. You can cut it wherever you want.

If you are unscrewing the fitting it should just turn without bending/moving the pipe. Yours could be siezed? try WD40.

Also Fill your tranny cooler and lines if you can with fluid to help keep the loss minimal.

Yes it does widen so you have to cut somewhere.

Make sure you have all parts with you before you cut, lol.

Can't remember exactly what these are like. Sounds like you have a fitting screwed into the radiator then a second pipe fitting screwed into it. You will need to hold one fitting with a spanner while undoing the other so the larger one does not undo.
Same deal with the pipe, you may need to hold it to stop it turning. Got 3 hands? A pair or two of vice grips might help (clamped on and wedged against something maybe).
On the other hand, are you going to cut the flares of them end of the pipes anyway?
If so just cut them off now.
With regard to fluid. By the time the cooler is filled with oil you may need to top up the trans anyway as it may start to drop out of gear when cold.
Hope this helps.

thanks guys, i think im forced to cut it, the line is completely twisted and blocked off now, if i finish today, i might book the car in for a transmission service for tomorow, and have my radiator flushed, i also put some pole position hoses on and ran out of coolant about 10 litres in, now the store i bought it from doesnt sell the same stuff.

will it be safe to fill the rest of the coolant up with distilled water to drive to the mechanic?

btw i used half a can of wd40 on it, no help though.

it should be fine to just fill it up with water to get to the mechanics.
