mmm,

I was going to say thieves with taste....... but then again maybe they were just being practical.

Seriously feel sorry for the poor buggers who might have had those lovely cars on order. :

"the cars have special steering wheels and sunroofs" hrmmm....

The quality of journalism has gone down dramatically in past years. I remember reading a story one day, then an update the next that wasn't 3/4 of what was said the day before. Or two stories on the same incident that read almost exactly the same...

I hope they find them though, i cant see what you could do with them, other than put fake plates on them and drive them around...

:P what happens when the clutch fails in them, or the diff starts whining, or any other problem? Take it to Ford Service?

I feel sorry for the poor people who are sitting waiting for the call from their dealers that their pride and joy has arrived. Reminds me when the WRX's were stolen from docks in Sydney. I always remembered David FLINT saying he wanted cars that were sort after when he started making the T series models referring to the WRX. With the awesome looks and performance from the BF range FPV's he got it!!

biggest mistake car yards make

keys left in building

you'd think they'd learn but nup

honestly though how do you not spot two grey f6's together you'd think ppl would catch on etc or the cops on the roads at least, def pro's or some very game thieves..

Dont forget the performance windshield wipers.

Quality and Journalism are words not used in the same sentence together. "Unamed Sources" and "Witnesses" usually mean, "What I think happened" or "what will sell papers/bring ratings."

What about VIN and Engine Numbers?? Ford have them set up so The engine number is built into the VIN no. Wont the records of those flag when they go for registration? In addition to that...if the car's havent been Pre-Delivery Inspected..there will be certain aspects of the car missing (i.e things like Mag Wheels, Badging, and Bits of the Body Kit)

Id say they were finished ready to go to dealers as they already had sunroof and Sports steering wheels fitted, they only fit sunroof etc after wheels and kit im lead to believe.

Id say these pair were waiting to go, and considering they were the same colour with the same options were probarly going to the 1 dealer for the 1 organisation!

Nah they wouldnt bother trying to register them, or even drive them round.....both those vehicles would have been stripped of any part that makes them F6 Typhoons and those parts would now be bolted onto xr6turbo's of similar color, or painted to suit the xr6.

The rest of the car they would probably just dump in a paddock and burn it.

I do not understand why they keep the keys onsite in a building, this has happened so many times at various dealerships around the country.

Would have been a fun drive up the Hume though..... i doubt they worried about speed limits in stolen vehicles.

Keep the keys offsite? Where the hell are you going to put them? Send them home with someone? What if he loses them or they get stolen? What if he calls in sick one day?

Aren't FPVs datadotted anyway?

That's why they invented safe's, to lock up valuable items ie car keys to expensive cars.

I'd say the shell has already reay been cut up and dumped, a whole car will fit into a 44" if cut up right. Data dot only works once police have found the stolen item's, untill then their just Typhoon part's on another car.

I see you've never been to a major car holding yard before. Some have over 5000 vehicles - little hard to keep the keys in the office. I'm sure you can work out the rest.

someone mentioned data dotting...can someone confirm that all FPVs get it or is it an option?

If its standard then I guess the mechanicals and interior are the only good bits, which are the most expensive parts anyway I guess.

We have quite a few up here where i live, 12 foot electric fences then 1o yards back there's large dirt hills to prevent cars being driven out. They have a 2 stage front gate, drive in and the gate closes behind you, then the next one opens and you can drive in. No public are allowed to enter the holding yards as the car's havent been cleared by customs, car's cannot be driven out of the yard either to show people. They hold new fords and holdens as well but mostly imports.

Why FPV's holding yard wouldn't be similar is amazing esp if the keys are left swinging.

Yes, FPV's are data dotted. People might need to keep an eye out for cheap Typhoon parts now.

Yes it`s true all fpv`s have datadot security infact there are 10,000 datadots on every car, and every part of the car so sooner or later the cars or parts thereof will be found.

They wont be registered, I would say they've been taken by people who know exactly what they are and are shopping for cars for parts. Ebay etc. will be where they end up most likely.

I bet you see them on the 6 o'clock news burnt out with a stripped ATM in the boot.
They seem to like big fast cars, does not stand well that the F6 is a desirable theft target for us owners...
