Do you have the standard air ducting and if so is the donut (or it is black pudding sausage ) shaped duct (correctly called a "Helmholtz resonator") around/ above the passenger's side shock tower in place and properly attached? It stops standing wave vibrations from inducted air that both makes that sort of noise and interferes with the correct functioning of the MAF. Named after Helmholtz resonance or wind throb which is the phenomenon of air resonance in a cavity, such as when one blows across the top of an empty bottle.

Still sounds like Helmholtz resonance; check the air filter is not inverted, no holes in ducting and the air box lid is on properly. Also check under front bumper that the plastic splash guard has not fallen down.

Pulled everything off the air intake, cleaned all the joins and reassembled with a bit of good old Vaseline. Sealed up all the joint around the snorkel and the airbox.
Test drive shortly. I suspect it's the snorkel / airbox join, lots of gaps.

I have had something very similar.
It was the heater valve tap. The diaphragm was stuffed. Never really noticed due to the fact never use hot control living in Queensland. This is connected to the heater controls via the vacuum line , constantly " wistle sucking" noise as it could not form a vacuum due to the diaphragm. It may not be the problem but worth a look. Check to see if the valve moves when changing from hot to cold on the dial. Cheers Dazza

Cut it by about 70%, I think I'm on the right path.
