Default What to get checked after you slam on the brakes

Like if you almost run into the back of a car slam the brakes on. Should you take it to a mechanic or someone to check the brakes?

No leave the brakes until they get much worse. Better yet, try to fix them yourself with an oxy.

I'd be checking your pants first for other skid marks before anything else .... :hihi:

It would be nice to know how old you are and what car you drive la2or?

If you have to slam the brakes 'that hard' to avoid hitting the car in front of you, then maybe what needs a fix more is your ability to judge distance between you and the car in front. hehe, I am just joking, well, I think you need to at least check your tyres for what people these days call "flat spots". If you stopped hard enough, the rest of your drive would be bumpy.

If you had a very close accident and you had to brake VERY hard and your wheels locked up, then definitely check your tyres. If you just slammed on the brakes and no skid, then mate, you are completely fine! You have ABS!

Maybe a little bit more information would be nice. Like what happened, how fast where you driving, do you actually have ABS, and another thing (don't bag on me), what age are you?

Really, these days no car needs a check up after heavy use of the brakes. They are strong, consistent and very reliable. IF ANYTHING, just your tyres!

La2or, your threads are wearing my patience thin, not only are most of the questions childish (or answered by plain common sense), but they're also in the wrong section.
Take some time to read the sub forums and cut the rubbish threads.

Brakes will be ok as will linings or more discs and pads, as mentioned id be looking at new tyres as they will be flat spotted depending on the severity of the skid

If it was a hard skid, then Id get the stub axles linished at least. While theyre at it, you may as well have the wheel bearings regraphed and decked, then shim the discs.

Shouldnt be more than $200, tell em what you want done, and tell them you wont pay more than $200. Someone will do it for you no worries at that price. Dont bother listening to them if they try top sell you something else, just insist on these things, and refuse to pay more than $200. Itll only take a couple hours, so drop it off, and go back later.

mate, seriously, you should get more than your brakes checked. start from the top.

cars are meant to be able to stop quickly. tyres wear down. if you locked up and can feel a vibration in your tyres, change them. if you have ABS, don't worry.

there is no checklist for a sudden stop (without the bang at the end ) get back in your car, and drive. far, far away from this and your similar threads.

are you serious?
if you have flat spots on your tyres just drive the car and they will go away quickly as it puts off the tyre balance etc and they will wear down to the where the flat spot is quickly and no worries.
