475 EL Fairmont Ghia V8s were made. I highly doubt Ford's database would show how many had body kits though. I couldn't get it broken down into colours either.

I'd be interested to know how many EF Ghias like mine were built. All the Tickford options, Windsor and in 'Bordeaux' purple. In the 7 years I've owned it, I have NEVER seen another one the same! I'm almost confident to bet that it's one of a kind.

Mike

Bordeaux purple, Tickford kit, 2.5+ inch drop, EL Ghia grille, full leather, Premium sound, C&C, electric everything, ABS, LSD, Crane cam, ChipTorque ECU, XR8 snorkel, lots of woodgrain, chrome and interior lights. Now with 18" BA XR8's!

well more often that not when someone buys a ghia new they completely spec it out, thats the point.

An EL Ghia is a very nice ride.

Mike, you're right, they're extremly rare in that combo. As soon as I saw this one, I knew I gotta have it! So on tuesday I'll be on the plane to gold coast! Here is the link:http://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=90616

Should have the car by next weekend.

Is yours series I or II? What interior color? Sunroof? Got any pics?

Cheers,
Bud

Hi Bud, congrats on the purchase! Yeah, they are very rare in this combination. The only thing mine missed out on was the sunroof, which would be nice. Mine is a Series 1, has the grey full leather, had the 16 inch FTRs and Tickford suspension, now a lot lower!

I've added an EL Ghia grille and chrome number plate surround, chrome door handles, NF woodgrain dash spear, shifter surround and door lamps. Seriously thinking of removing the faded rear spoiler and adding a BA bonnet bulge. What do you think?

Sorry about the crappy phone pics. I have never got around to a proper photo shoot in 7 years.... :togo:

Bordeaux purple is such a cool colour, but obviously not as popular in the mid 90s as today. Only the luxo models had it as an option.

Enjoy your car- I love mine. Even the Holden guys like it.

Mike

Mike your car looks so hot! Can't wait to get mine! I've never seen that color in real life, but judging by the photos its awesome! The wheels suit it perfectly, they make the car look much modern, maybe cos the color looks similar to BA phantom.

I would definitely take the wing off and put BA bulge on it, it would change the whole look of the car. I'm planing on doing pretty much same things you've done to yours, EL grille and plate surround, lowering and either 18s or 19s(still deciding).

What suspension are you running? It sits really nice! Also whats the best way to upgrade CAI? This is my first V8, had EBII XR6, ED XR6 and BA Ghia I6 before.

Being series I, do you have LSD and whats your diff ratio? I believe series II onwards had 3.45 LSD. Is yours same?

Also what sort of consumption are you getting? As I'm doing round 450kms a week city driving, I was thinking of gas conversion.

Cheers,
Bud

Suspension: original Tickford XR8 front springs on Pedders lowered-spring platform front struts in the front, Aurora (Industrial Springs in Adelaide) superlows in the rear. I really need shortened shocks in the back, as it likes to bounce off the Tickford shocker bumpstops a lot! I removed the centre diff bumpstop for a little more travel and the tailshaft never rubs. I'd like to go a little lower in the back. The photo makes it look like it's higher than it really is.

Diff: 2.32 I think, LSD. I wish it was a 2.45! It has really long legs on the open road- 1800rpm at 100km/h. 9-10 litres/100 on BP Ultimate on a trip. Around town driving nice and smoothly averages around 14-16 L/100. Not too bad, and certainly in I6/ V6 fuel economy range. Who needs a 6 if you drive with your brain turned on?

When do you get your Ghia Bud?

Mike

The car is arriving on tuesday, can't wait! I drove it from gold coast to Brisbane, its really smooth. Even with 3.45diff it uses about 10L/100km on the open, sits about 2000rpm at 100km/h. In the city 16-17L/100km. And the sound! Its got extractors and single 3in exhaust fitted and sounds awesome!

Here is a couple quick phone pics from couple of days ago. I'll take more with a camera when I get the car next week.

Cheers,
Bud
