Could be (if a diesel) for use at a ''high flow '' diesel pump.

Its for fuel. If you run out the funnel will open the fuel filler so you can pour fuel in.

well lot of things haven't been mentioned. It wasn't a pleasant experience with the Ford dealer. Won't be good to go into details but it was a cheeky sale. We went to trade in our old car which we had for less than a year. In trade in form it was asked if car was written off and we left it blank as we don't know and it was never written off in our procession. When we say we don't know its dealer's responsibility to check that or ask us to check that. He kept quite until we went to take the delivery of the car. Took a week to deliver the car which is in stock and was 2011 plate clearance sale. Car was registered on our name with our custom plates. They could have told us this atleast before they called us to pick up the car, so that we could have some time to arrange balance amount.

This is one ridiculous thing and if I start listing the whole experience it will be a long story. Just to mention one... just couple of weeks car was delivered, $500 tint is already peeling off on the rear screen.

We had all rights and could have walked away from that deal but we needed a car desperately so paid full amount and drove away with new car and old car. WON'T RECOMMEND THAT DEALER TO ANYONE.

Dont see what the issue with this is.
Its the SELLER responsibility by LAW to notify any potential new owner if the vehicle has been written off previously.
Yes, the dealer should also check, but the seller should also check too.
A dealer doing their job is a bad experience...................
Seriously.

I agree. Seller should also do the check but not everyone know about this. There are thousands of people out there buying written off cars just because they don't have the awareness.

Put yourself in our situation. My sis bought the car from NSW and transferred rego to ACT and after 8 months moved to VIC and transferred rego to VIC. Apparently when the car was booked in for inspection in VIC we were suppose to be notified that the car was written off before. It seems until last year the car history database is all different between some states and now its being collaborated or something. They never bothered to do a check while purchasing nor trading the car as it never occurred or felt necessity of doing a check as car was good and wasn't expensive. My sis and her partner both work in IT and do contract jobs. So, sometimes they travel interstates temporarily. Thats how they happen to buy the car which was written off. The seller didn't tell them either. They know very little about all these things.

Anyway, if you were the dealer and when someone trading in their car tells you that they don't know the history, wouldn't you ask them to do the check or atleast do it yourself? Instead, would you ignore all this and finalize the new car and get it registered on the customer's name?

What if we just walk away saying we can't afford? Trade in contract was signed and accepted. Why couldn't they do the check at the time of contract and why they did the check just 30mins before delivery? They did checked but kept as a secret fearing they might loose the sale.

Don't take this as an argument, I accept that its the owner's responsibility to do the check but am just explaining the simple logic behind this. Some lessons are learned hard way. But this is a good example for anyone not to fall into traps while buying, selling or trading cars.

cheers

The owners manual explains what it is for, and the other guys are correct.

There is a nice cut out for it in the boot if you lift up the boot carpet
you will find the cut out in the styrofoam bin, (l/h/s) nice place to place your lock nut if yours is a Titanium.

If your car is a petrol engine then because of the capless filler hole the funnel can be used if you run out of fuel and you can fill up with a fuel can .
