i was awake at 5am for some reason, (still awake that is) and the box locked up.. no amount of turning it on off/leaving it unplugged for a few mins etc would bring it back. It kept doing start-up checks etc, all lights staying on, all sorts of weird things. It only started working again about 2pm. I'm in melb's north. Good thing the price isn't going up for the 400th time, oh wait yes it is.

That's the criminal part of it. Why should we pay to view advertisements. I want it disconnected, but she won't have it. :

Powered off and restarted it's fine (you'll have to do this from the actual wall outlet) - it's a botched firmware upgrade.

Cheers

Hey tip for when the program guide goes off and you can't see anything on it.

go to 'sports selector' and let it load, then click on the foxtel button[to go back to the previous channel.], i came to it one day, so everytime it stuffs up do that. =]

yup i had this problem yesterday here in geelong

i called foxtell and had it running in 5 mins

they told me to pull the smart card out press the back and select butons then once it goes through its system check ... ie green like back on box or asks for the card /card not preasant

you then fit the card again and it all worked fine for me

I powered ours off and on and all was fine.

That didn't work for my wife's workmate.

She called Foxtel and was told to press "Back" button three times and then press "Foxtel".

That worked for her...

Foxtel back after software glitch

DECEMBER 01, 2006
FOXTEL services have finally been restored across Australia after a
technical glitch saw them disrupted for up to six and a half hours.

Thousands of subscribers to the pay-TV network had their services frozen
from 6am today.

Some digital set-top boxes on cable and satellite services across the
country were fixed on to one channel.

Foxtel spokeswoman Rebecca Melkman said its satellite service had been
restored by 9am but the cable service was not completely restored until
12.30pm.

Ms Melkman said she did not know how many subscribers were affected after
the glitch caused by a problem with some software.

More than one million people subscribe to Foxtel's digital pay-TV service.

Lol, the bosses are telstra and news ltd execs arent they? I dont know if they can upgrade their mercs any more than they already have!!

Go easy on poor old foxtel tho - for all the years its been around, its only just started making money (1 or 2 years of profit now?).

RE: problems... didnt have any dramas with mine at all?? Cable connection in SA....
