Well most of you may have known my... ahem... "rocket" was being prepared for an event over Easter.......
All things started well.. until a wee nut decided to remove itself from my throttle linkage on the webbers, leaving me no (of what little there was) power to keep moving. After dropping about 12 secs from my lap times during the day... I thought I was having a corker..... until I decided to become more intimate with the track..... A complete roll, landing back on my feet and the car still running, I had to get out via the passsenger door. Apart from some bruising from my harness (and to my ego), a slight headache and a very swollen elbow (I braced myself with my elbow when she tipped, thereby leaving a rather large dint on the inside of my drivers door !!) I am relatively unscathed.... pity i won't be able to say the same thing about my bank balance! As I had already done a few runs, I still managed to win my class! I'm off to see a bloke about a shell on Wednesday, and will get her back on the track as quickly as possible.........

Philip Island - 2 Go Baby Go - 0 You have not had any luck there in your recent attempts. The good part is that other shell came about easily and quickly so lets hope that this one is in goo nick so you can start the transplant!

Holy Crap !!!!!!!.....
Very happy to hear you came away fairly unscathed. We all know you can fix the rocket, but the human body takes a bit more time. I'm glad I wasn't there watching ! I would have been fighting Sean for the Vallium... What a freaking heart starter. Class Winner.... : Even with a roll over :

The irony is that I have done oodles of club sprints and my previous racecar seriously was a weapon... and the only time i have EVER crashed, is at the island once before (well, now that's twice) which was what BLKphoon was alluding to......
I kept the same race number as previously which may or may not be bad karma, but I figure if i can lay the blame on someone else, it's gotta be 1600GT for giving me the mozz... as I took off down pit lane, he and a mate commented that "the car is set up well - all it needs is a new body and a coat of paint"................ : Oh well........ at least it will be "old hat" putting her back together..... :

Good to see that you walked out of it with only bruising and your ego a little battered.
Thank Christ for the rollcage, it did its job. Hope to see you real quick out on the track again. |

maybe u should be keeping an eye on me when we're building DRD (dirty rotten datto!!) Mk 2, coz after the weeks spent under, in and around DRD Mk 1 getting it ready for easter, my head may be scrambled just enuf to forget to do up a bolt or 2.... now THAT'S mozzing u!! but seriously, while the little bugger did cost me some damn late nights, and a few headaches along the way, it was great to seeing it, and GBG, doing so well, before the 'oops'. and the 'oops' could have been much, much worse. thank god it was just the metal bits that got hurt, not the human ones... i must admit tho that GBG is the only person i know that can boast that they wrote off their race car to win a $40 trophy!! that's something for the history books in my world!! and pecker, quite a few hearts missed a beat, i can tell u... looks like race car central will be a bit hectic for the time being, and with a few extra little tweaks here and there that i've learnt with datsun stuff in the past (while crewing with a few other race mates), Mk 2 should be even better... |

You'd be surprised at what she can do.........
: I have a new toy in the garage...... I think I will affectionately call it turtle...... it's in better condition that the other and now it's a matter of stripping bits and transferring stuff........ Turtle is white and yellow (Seagull reckons with the burgundy door trim it should be called egg and bacon (yes as in roll : )........the previous bloke had gone to the effort of cutting out rust and re-spraying it! Had I not put the racecar in the concourse as a joke, I never would have got turtle..... MOTIV8 and I have been busy (he's done more work than me today and I couldn'tve done it without him- I'm still not 100%) so I'm gonna be busy for the next few weeks... : :

So thought I'd give you an update-ish....
She's just about empty - only dash and steering column, and drain the fuel tank to do and then it's time to get serious. Will give underneath a good coat of KillRust/White Knight and then it's time to start transferring things over.....

AAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDD........ the boy bought it!!! :
Well it is signed by Rusty......... Seagull won't complain - we picked up a heap of calipers for $5 !!! So this meant Seagull could have his own race clock - and it of course fitted insode the V8 wheel on the wall......

All it now needs is a PI display, a cage and a sheite load of wiring and cables and you would have yourself a V8supercar interior! :
