Schlesser makes his move
Two-time Dakar winner Jean-Louis Schlesser has made an immediate impact on the first African stage of the Dakar by winning Monday's 314km test between Nador and Er Richidia in Morocco. Mitsubishi's Hiroshi Masuoka was second and Stephane Peterhansel third as Nani Roma moved into the overall lead. |

I'd guess he's running in the buggy class?

All of the top vehicles are highly modified & don't bear a great deal of resemblance to standard 4wds, I mean you don't think that VW Touraegs & BMW X5s are that good at racing across deserts do you? Some look a lot different from normal (eg the VWs), while some look like normal but are different underneath (eg the Nissan Colin McCrae drove last year). There are cars that are only mildly modified, it used to be the T1 class, I'm not sure if this is still the case.
