Default Lost socket

Im pulling my boot garnish off at the moment, as it doesnt quite sit right. And while fiddling with the solitary last nut, my brand new socket slipped from my fingers and is now somewhere *inside* my boot.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to get the damn thing out... Ive tried shaking the boot from side to side (didnt do much as its still bolted to the body), and opening and closing the boot as fast as i can, but i still cant hear anything.

I really dont want to take the entire boot off just to get my socket out.

And to make things worse, i still dont know why the garnish isnt sitting right!

good ol' mum. they come in handy sometimes dont they.

i was by myself and i have these "bear paws" i couldnt get my hand into the space the socket did. didnt want to take the lid off. so i went to repco and got one of those magnet pen things that extend out to about 400mm.

it was just thin enough to get in there.
