Default Anyone here have a ford LTD of some description?

Im not quite there yet finances wise but im looking to upgrade my '89 EA Falcon S to an 89-94 LTD, preferrably a V8 one with Electric sunroof/leather seats. They are really rare from what i can see, does anyone own one?

I didn't have an LTD, but I had a fully optioned '92 NC2 Fairlane Ghia V8 as my first car. Was an excellent car, what would you like to know about them?

well i have driven an '88 NA Fairlane, the old 3 speed one and it certainly wasnt bad, just bland looking taxi seats and the gearbox seemed to be nowhere near as smooth shifting as mine..also no power/economy switch, it always seemed to shift up relatively late..more specifically i would like to know which model of LTD had leather and electric suroof..apparently the 88 model didnt have leather cause the one i saw at a car yard still had the gay looking taxi seats.. or was it an imitation LTD with just the grille snapped on?..it had electric sunroof tough. Also what would be a realistic price for an LTD, seing as they are so rare i cant really find one in Adelaide.

If I remember correctly, It was DC2 (mid 92) onwards that had the full leather interior. (maybe as an option, I'm not sure)
The sunroof was an option for any car at the time, and the V8 was standard in the DC onward LTD's, although you could downgrade them to a 4.0.

As for price, that depends on the condition, kilometers, options and what you are willing to pay for one.

Carsales Link This is the only one I could find after a short search that has a V8, leather and sunroof. With over 250,000k's and a price of almost $7,000 I doubt it will sell very quickly. Bide your time and a good buy will present itself sooner or later.

thanks alot, i only have about 2,000 saved up for a car at the moment but it seems i will have to buy a 92-94 model then..i want a V8 one anyway so ill just keep saving..strange that Statesman/Caprice's are all the rage right now with their usual bogan/wog ghetto blaster devotees but Fairlanes and especially LTDs arent "in" at all and never were..

I think you'll find fairlanes and ltd's (89-94)were very "in" at one time, just not for a long time.

i wouldnt mind a ZL LTD at all i just replace the crappy old crossflow 4.1 with a 5.0 litre mustang V8 from the EB..I actually really liked the ZLs looks, reminded me of a car aston martin never made somehow..I also loved the digital dash and the overall quality of the car, the E series looks nowhere near as good on the inside, and EF onwards has crap analogue gauges on the fairlane instead of digital, yuk..

The LTD seats are no better than a Fairlanes, other than they are electric. The ones you really want is the EB-ED Fairmont Ghia seats.
Good luck finding ones that are still in condition though.

Thanks hun.
As Amanda said I have a 95 DF2 LTD and I have not driven a car so smooth before and is lowered. Mine is a Navy Blue 5ltr v8 with every option including sunroof. I recommend the DF/DL if you can find one. Where do you live? I could show you mine.

i am in the Adelaide Metropolitan Area, SA. I dont really have enough money for a decent LTD yet, only 2,000 dollars in my car fund of sorts, but it is most probably what i want as my next car. After some lengthy research i have discovered that the DA and DA series 2 88-91 odd LTDs had electric plush seats and sunroof, also wood inserts on doors and different grill/rims..thats pretty much what differentiated them from the Fairlane, the 92 and later models had the leather..i would more than gladly buy an early DA as long as its a 4 speed and replace the seats with leathers down the track. Also the DA was 6 cylinder only and the DC was the first with the 5.0 Litre Mustang V8. So a '92 V8 LTD would be ideal, it would probably be the cheapest V8, and would be an awesome unique car, there are soo many hotted up Commodores, rice mobiles and generally crap cars on the road, it would be a very interesting car to own. I have no idea what performance the V8 would have with the 4 speed auto but im guessing 0-100 in the low sevens and 250 km/h top whack..

re: Um ok then, have you ever actually seen an Aston

Yer i know what most if not all astons look like, its the mid 90s V8 Vantage that is slightly similar from the front to the ZL Fairlane series..Give a ZL a 2 door coupe body, more agressive lines and huge tires and it would have made a great Aston

Umm.... i wish.... Maybe if i stroked and/or supercharged mine?

A new 6.0 litre holden grange might do that, not a 1993-94 DC LTD!!

even my EA cfi auto will do it in about 9 give or take .1 or .2 of a second..No joke, car makers seriously underestimate their cars performance. I mean seriously given the power and torque figures, i would not be surprised that the DC LTD would have similar if not better acceleration to a early 90s Camaro that had less power and torque from its 5.7 litre V8 than the LTD 5.0, that did the 0-100 sprint in 7.9 according to top gear.

...Did you just compare an LTD with a Camaro? Like, seriously?

2 Door Coupe, light weight, compared to 4 Door Sedan, barge-like weight.
Under estimating their performance? Dont get me wrong, I love my LTD's, but having owned a DC II LTD with the 'Mustang 5.0 Litre', I can tell you they're not the speed demons you seem to think they are. Bit of get up and go when you're at a nasty T-intersection with no lights.. maybe, but a sports car they are not. The manufacturers often vary their performance figures up and down, yes. But I gotta tell you, there is no standard LTD that would put down those sort of figures.
If they did, dont you think the Fairlane/LTD might have a more prominent place with the younger generation?
