Hey guys,
I am taking my XC for a run up north, and I'm leaving next weekend. On the way I am entering the Rockhampton Motorshow. My application has been approved but have been told that a fence is mandatory. I don't have a fence. What I'm hoping is that someone in Brisbane would be kind enough to lend me theirs for a couple of weeks whilst I'm away. Of course there would be some sort of payment for the use... carton of beer or bottle of spirits, something like that. I would need use of it from around the middle of August to the end of August. My alloted space is roughly 6m x 4m. Thanks in advance Wade

Would you be allowed to use "bunting" instead?
Or does it have to be a 'fence' fence?

if you can think of portable posts some coloured nylon rope from crazie clarkes would only cost 5 bucks and look pretty good

Bunting is basically like a rope with small flags or similar every 50cms or so.
Youve probably seen it at the races and other car shows because a lot of competitors use it around the borders of their pit areas to keep people back.

Just buy 4 star pickets and a roll of safety tape if u get stuck. Its only to set a physical barrier between people and your car so they dont touch. Probably not as classy as the shiny chrome posts and the retractable webbing. Go pinch (borrow!) some from the local air port, or bank! Ha. Actually thats not a bad idea, know anyone that works in a bank? they dont use them on the weekends! Ha

What about going to the wreckers and getting 4 axles - doesn't matter what car they come off. Degrease and clean them, and have one at each corner. Then use some washing line rope (stretchy thin white stuff) and a couple of flags/Ford brochures taped to the rope along each side.

Get some garden pots, fill them with concrete and a tomato stake. Youve now got your posts for next to nothing and they wont fall over. Use rope or tape to make the barrier.
Edit: Make the posts with the plastic pots, cut them off and spray paint the base. Would look pretty decent IMO

Have seen 4" PVC stormwater pipe used very effectively. You can get joiners and elbows to piece it all together. Best part is, you can pull it apart and take it home easily.
Another method is to use brake drums or discs as post supports like we did for my mates XB.

Hey mate. I'm in rocky and will be at the Motor show. Not entering, reckon it sucks you have to pay so much. The fella that won the southern comfort cruiser galaxy is in rocky to so i bet itl be there. Should be a good show. They pay some good money to get some cars up here. Our car club helps out the Chev club in organising it. We have some stands at home. If you just get some of that white plastic chain stuff or something u could maybe use them. they are just black but look fairly reasonable. Father reckons i can have them for my car so will find out but unless he puts the mustang in the show you should be able to use them. They are similar to the ones in the photo in the above post except use drum brakes instead od disck and are twice the height. PM me if interested and will try to organise something.

damn im going down to torbanlea (harvey bay) on the 19th then back up to yeppoon/rocky on the 21st (to get tattooed again) ;) then back home, wonder if i can afford to go back again on the weekend hmmm....

Thanks for all the replys and ideas guys.
Didn't really want to get anything too bulky or heavy but the witches hats seem like a good idea. I had thought about the rotor/drum idea too. The ones in that pic... Are the uprights welded or bolted to the rotors?

threaded rod (cyclone hold down rod ,12 mm rod with thread all the way) is sold in 3 metre lengths just cut and put two nuts ,one either side of disc or drum .zip tie or tape rope or plactic chain on and jobs right wont cost much and just remove bottom nut and it all folds down
