Ford Australia Facebook are starting to tease us a bit more with recent posts:
The "new" Fiesta being test-driven around Australia: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater And this confusing post about the Fiesta Metal: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater Confusing because they go on to ask Australia "We’re still looking for possible driving routes - if you know any great roads that would be perfect for an EcoBoost-powered hot-hatch, let us know!" Here's hoping the Metal becomes available in the EcoBoost engine. EDIT Oh, nope. "Hi Dion, Fiesta Metal is powered by a 1.6L Duratec and Fiesta ST will have the EcoBoost engine." The latest Motor magazine has a single page article about it, but still showing the 5-door photos :/ They have a release date of "August". |

Motor magazine also put a photoshopped picture of a Ford Taurus with the FG GT rims on the front cover and said it is the 'final phase' of the GT falcon.

I wonder since its going to be supplied from Germany, if we will have the same long wait times we had way back when the WS first came out?

Any "sporting" version of a model will always be a low volume mover for the company. And considering there appears to be a hefty price step up from the current hero spec, and less actual "metal", it would be a worry for said bean counters. Anyone want to have a stab at initial import numbers? Considering the Black had 250 units and they were hard to shift, I'll say 200. |

Surely that cant be correct?
Maybe they know your keen so they are telling you about limited supply, it happened with the Focus ST aswell. Although they were limited in supply for a little while.

It's June.
Most media believe the ST to be an August release. These cars are here already, or very close. "Limited Supply"? Only if they have under ordered for 2013. The Ford dealer would be correct though, there won't be any more going down the production line in 2013. And how they sell will influence the order book for 2014. |

Yeah not sure. He was saying I'd have to put in a preference for another colour and hope they can do a swap between dealers.
Could be salesman shenanigans. First dealership I went to just said "You'd know more than me, August release, come back in a month and we'd know some more info". He didn't even want to take down my details. Second dealership was more helpful, showed me the hardcopy brochure to clear up some questions I had, and took my details for an expression of interest. Will try the third "local" dealership some time this week and see how I go sussing out info. I'm not sure how I feel about the colour combinations: Molten Orange Race red Frozen white Performance blue Panther black Molten orange, being new I'm not sure. Not a fan of the Sunburst orange they have in te Falcons. The new Mars Red looks pretty sweet, though. Red seems too feminine, plus it's not metallic. Frozen white (while I LOVE the way it pops in the sunlight when clean) I think being a small car it might get "lost in the crowd". Blue or black is probably the winner at the moment. |

Just read the latest Wheels magazine.
Now saying Oct/Nov for the Fiesta ST. And Ford NZ are better than Ford Aus. http://www.ford.co.nz/cars/all-new-f...ions/spec-data Ouch! http://www.ford.co.nz/cars/all-new-fiesta-st/price-list As the Zetec is currently $21,290 drive away in Victoria on Fords website, and $25,990 on the NZ website it puts the ST at the 30K mark. I've been waiting for the ST since the WS was released, but I'll wait patiently just a little longer and avoid the initial rush, so I can cruise in and take my pick on my terms.
Props to everyone that gets in early though, can't wait for the "show us ya Fiesta ST" thread! |

Frozen white you say.
Heres Jamsports ST, excuse the pink Theirs in on Eibachs though, and next to a 600bhp MKII RS Focus

My friendly salesman told me when he asked FoMoCo if the ST would come under $30k they girl on the other end of the line just laughed at him. So yeah I'm thinking it's gonna come in at around that price. Maybe $28k RRP, but I doubt it. My feeling of "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" is somewhat waning now. Since release is so close I'll wait and see how the ST performs before I decide where to put my $30k towards. Last edited by NanoDuke; 22-06-2013 at 09:08 PM. |

IMO i think the ST will be hard to beat value for money wise. Thats where Ford have won in the ST range IMO.

Its going to be a great little car. Be interesting how many people put up $30k+ for it though.

If we get ST2 it will be half leather, half cloth like the Focus if we get ST1 its cloth.

A pic I saw of the left hand drive version had leather trimmed seats. Cloth inserts, leather sides.

I decided to draw up a table comparing the Carsales RRP, power and weight figures. I guess I could've thrown in the torque figures, but they're harder to compare due to different peak ranges. Here's the result: (I estimated a price of $30,000 for the Fiesta, but even doing a "What-if" analysis, you'd need a RRP of $39,056 to reach a $/kg/kW of 4500 [just beneath the XR6]) Obviously the XR6T/G6ET has the best power to weight ratio BUT going back up the list you gain an increase in the power-to-weight per dollar figures. So to sum up the Fiesta ST gives the best BANG for buck. |

Maybe I'm missing something. But I find a more intuitive measure to be first power/kg
Fiesta ST 134 / 1163 = 0.115219260533104 G6ET 270 / 1789 = 0.1509223029625489 And then power per kg per dollar spent: Fiesta ST 0.115219260533104 / 30000 = 3.8406420177701329e-06 G6ET 0.1509223029625489 / 56235 = 2.6837788381354835e-06 |

Yes, that's valid, but I don't think it's more intuitive. It's easier to colour code whole numbers than deal with decimals and scientific notation.
It depends on how you want to think about it. kg/kW is saying how much weight is being shifted per kilowatt (therefore a smaller number is better), and then how much money is being spent to get that figure. In your case bigger numbers are better, in my calcs, smaller numbers are better. That's the beauty of mathematics. Both calculations are correct, just depends on what your preferred method is. I know I've seen some car reviews state power-to-weight figures in either kg/kW or kW/kg. |
