Looks like a pretty nice piece of kit for 60k!

^ agreed. From some of those specs, looks like it might be a skyline killer. Im not sold on the in wheel electric motor though. Doesnt sound inviting. Besides that, it might be a good package.

Looks pretty good. I am warming to the idea of hybrids in sports cars.
I love power, but sitting in heavy traffic the other day I was thinking I wish I had a hybrid right now. Having 250kws + under your right foot is useless when you crawling at 10km/h.

I'd love to have a performance hybrid. But then again I hate cvt transmission. Is it possible for hybrids to get proper autos or manuals?

The engine and power figures look good, but mated with a CVT....Really? I'd understand if that was an "option" when you purchase the car, but if it's released with ONLY a CVT, Toyota really can't make any car now-a-days without adding something boring to it.

I don't mind CVT's, but when you revive a sports car icon like the Supra, you can't bring it back with a transmission for econocars. |:

That's a decent price for this type of car.

Looks similar to the FT86 and BRZ but more angry. And now I'm confused!

Now they are using the Subaru boxer that is traditionally mated to an AWD drivetrain to a RWD in the FT86/BRZ but making a traditionally RWD car an AWD in the new Supra :

I'm better on a price north of $60k though.

The new car differs so much from the original that it's a slap in the face to true sports car and Supra fans.

It's called progress.. Car's makers have a tendency to adopt this stuff called technology...

They are building a pretty sweet looking sports car for ~$60k, they are trying to appeal to the masses, not a small group of Supra fan boys who probably don't have the cash to buy one anyway..

I think this car is EXACTLY what we'll be seeing more of over the years to come! Powerful, economical, and relatively cheap sports car!

How?

Midmount plus two indvidual motors in the front wheels linked to the traction control system?

Even Ferrari and Lamborghini are working on hybrids.

It's a bit like me saying to you guys, "Ford have built a new Falcon, only now it's FWD with a rear mounted W10 engine."

If you can't understand my point, then you are being stupid for the sake of it.

I wouldn't call it a slap in the face..

You've got to get with the times, slapping on a turbo is always possible but you can't keep the same tech for eternity.

I think it's awesome that Toyota is doing this.
