I have an AU 2 Falcon with high kms (almost 200,000kms). The paint needs to be polished and I'm wondering whether or not the AU 2 Falcon Forte has a clear coat finish on the paintwork? If not, then I'll use a mild cut and polish. Anyone know if a) it has a clear coat, and b) if a cut and polish would work well? I used a cut and polish on my old car and it came up awesome. I'm hoping to do the same.

Yes they do have a clear coat. A mild cut normally works ok but don't get to carried away or do it to often or you may find yourself having to get a re-spray.

Tried a clay bar yet. Did that to mine and it came up a treat (I paid someone else to do it)

Ok thanks guys. I thought if you used a cut and polish it removed the clear coat? I don't want to remove the clear coat which is why I'm asking whether a mild cut and polish will be a good thing or a bad thing. I'm guessing if I use a cut and polish it won't remove the clear coat? This is what I want to achieve - a good polish without removing the clear coat.

Okay unless someone suggests otherwise I intend on (first thing tomorrow):
1) Rewashing/drying the car (I washed it an hour ago) 2) Applying a clay bar with a lubricant 3) Applying a cut and polish to the paintwork 4) Applying a wax to seal it Does that sound reasonable? |

There are cut and polishes around that are suitable for clear coats - just make sure you buy one that is and you will be fine.

Not every colour is clear coated of the top of my head I don't think white or red are, either way they can all be polished as long as you're sensible you'll be fine.
