Default Throttle body turnaround

Hey all.

I'm just wondering if anyone has turned the throttle body around on an i6 bbm engine so that it faces the wheel arch.
Obviously some cutting, welding and messing around would be needed but i heard that it had been done.

Are there any advantages to it?
Obviously torque will go down, but throttle response would increase, and there would be less heat sink into the piping cause is not near the engine as much so one would think power would go up (even though it's not everything).

So anyone got some thoughts on this cause it's been on my mind for a while

It would be good, but IMO the work involved is not worth the gain. It wouldn't be a huge amount of HP gained I would have thought.

Have you tried heat wrapping the piping thats above the engine?

I understand what you mean, it would also mean that you would have an intake that backs over itself.

just use the factory rubber/plastic pipes and get a mandrel peice from airbox to the 1st elbow. cheap, effective in keeping heat minimal as the mandrel piping heats up more, looks good too
