Default 21st Birthday Present Ideas HELP!!!!

Hi All,

It is my sons 21st (Melbourne Cup Day) and wondering what different and memorable ideas anyone had for a 21st present.

I was going to send him overseas but he couldn't get his act together and save some money for himself.

He has done the V8 experience ect... And would never jump out of a perfectly good plane.

I thought about getting him a radio control car (ie petrol type for racing) also thought maybe a small share portfolio.

Open to all ideas, what have other people bought there sons and some of you young ones on here what would you like to get...

Ta
Frustrated Dad....

Well I turned 21 just over a year ago, and Im a huge ****head.
In saying that, the best present I could have had, and did have, was to be with my family, and have a dinner out. No parties (that was the weekend after), just family, a couple of beers, and a dinner with them, it meant the world to me.

I know when I had my 18th I didn't get anything personalised and wish I did. So maybe something personalised? Depends on how much you are wanting to spend.

Get him a good wristwatch - its something (provided he doesn't lose it) he can have forever.

I'm sure he can go oversea's on his own accord later in life, likewise, although the v8 experience would be fun, it will just become a memory to cling on to.

I think the share portfolio would be a great idea, and something that will grow over time, sure he might not understand the importance of it now, but in years to come he will, just make sure he cant cash it in and blow the money!!..

apart from that something for his car, new stereo, if he lives out of home, a Plasma/home theatre or the like. Or 21 on Melb Cup day get him a great new suit and tickets to the birdcage at Flemington and then follow up with a Boys day at blokes I mean Oaks Day!!

Glad I had a look at the Stonebrothers link first because I was going to suggest the same thing;

I got a Sidchrome tool cabinet similar to the one above from my parents for my 21st and it's now on the wall in my own garage and gets use almost every week for one purpose or another. It's been delivery good value now for the past 23 years as I'm almost 44 (actually on the day after your sons birthday ;) ) and it shows very little sign of wearing out.

A great gift idea if he's into using his hands :

No get him something personal. Alcohol etc are easy and unpersonal. I would go a watch or something special. All of his friends will be getting him alcohol.

My missus is looking at gettine me one for xmas/bday which is how i got the idea. A member of our car club got one at the Sydney all Ford Day and had it autographed by Russ on the day.

If its for your son you could get it engraved which is also a good idea to deter thieves!

For my 21st, I got nothing spectacular...

In fact, I do not even remember what the hell I got...

i would go with something personal as it is something to look back at or pass on when or if he ever has a kid of his own.

a mate of mine did a lot of travelling around OZ so he was given a compass & sextant so he could always find his way home... nice thought hey?
