Purolator oil Filters - $7.49 from Sears. Less than half of what I can get them for in Australia.

I think parts and accessories are easier for the V8 owners, as the V8 is common both here and in the States. It isn't exactly easy to walk into a Ford dealer in Los Angeles and ask for a part for the Barra 182 I6.

I don't know about car parts but there is an aftermarket rifle stock for a short action remington 700 that is about $900AU here or $450AU in the US. I only want one.

I'm in the states at the moment. Everything is stupidly cheap. Only thing that's not cheap enough is excess baggage to bring it all back!

So do what I do. Post it home!

When I travel I never worry about how much stuff to buy or what the weight is. Buy all you want, then go to the local post office and send it on it's way.

I have sent boxes from Korea and China via ship.. 15kg was around $60US, peanuts in the scheme of things.

Economy air was around 3.5 times the cost.

If you find cheap items in the states you know will sell for a nice premium here stock up, post them to yourself / family / friends etc and no excess baggage fees.

If it was legal to post it back... I would get as much beef jerky as I could get my hands on, SO cheap compared to over here!

Car related stuff, cleaning products like waxes and polishes etc, might even be able to get a cheap supercharger ;) haha one can dream :P

In that case, I'd just consume my own body weight in jerky while over there

Are you driving? If so make sure you stop off at the factory outlets http://www.barstowoutlet.com/ in Barstow Cal. It is roughly half way between LA and LV. I always go to the Levis outlet, I have bought Jeans as cheap as $20 USD but they are mainly around $35 USD. They main thing I like is they have sizes I just have never seen in Australia and all for a 1/4 of the price. Last time I was there in March I never took any jeans with me so I could buy some there, and I ended up buying six pairs!

You can barely get through the wheels pavilion in one day! Allow three minimum. If you are after parts suppliers, make sure spend at least a morning or afternoon or even a day going through the Sands expo as well. This is more of a trade supplier's exhibition and is not directly attached to SEMA.

yep I do both shows - but I'm mainly involved at the Aapex one in the Sands.
3days min is even pushing it if you don't have an agenda so don't stuff around - long days get in early and just go for it so much to see especially if its your 1st time.
Not far from the strip by cab 15mins are the factory outlets - as Bud Bud mentions cheap - Levis last year I bought from $15 - you can fit out your whole robe so buy up - and for the kids....
silver xe - another thing to do get to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway - Nascar drives if your keen - and Strust me its awesum done it and Shelby is right there as well - make sure of open times look up their websites.
Looking forward to it as usual - never had a rainy day in the 10odd times I have gone.

No you don't "have" to be......go onto the website and register as a overseas visitor or something like that - I know we have to pay US$25 I imagine consumers would be the same or a bit more.
Without double checking my calender I'm sure SEMA/Aapex is on Nov 1 2 3 4.....
So your there a bit earlier saam - look up through the net for industry shows/swap meets etc.....

San Francisco is great..
We went there on Californian bus tour.. Stayed there 4 days.. Instead of going with expensive tour.. We hailed a TAXI and took his recommendations to a good restaurant... Worked a treat, the taxi bought us home too...
Top shopping and very friendly place..
Been back a few times since, enjoy it every time I go...
