From memory, they were built aftermarket by Spanmor. Not a fan of them, too boxy for my liking.

Here is a link to an old Wheels magazine that has an article on them.

Found this:
Announced at the close of 1982, this model was described in Wheels magazine in February 1983.

Spanmor, as the name suggests, was a Melbourne company that specialised in hearses, stretched limos and medical applications.

As a coupe conversion, it was outstandingly professional with the handmade front doors extended by 30cm with matching side and roof interior trim specific to this model. Despite the Spanmor's new centre and rear pillars, the XE's deep side windows, high roofline and square-edged styling made this coupe look a little stumpy.

When Bertone faced the same problem making a coupe out of the square-rigged Volvo 264 series, the Volvo's 262C emerged with a radically chopped roofline that reduced headroom severely.

Although the Spanmor offered the same cabin space as the four-door sedan, its sales fell way short of the projected 100 build when its high roof styling was not seen as a worthy successor to Ford's earlier hardtops and their lower rooflines.

Because none of the conversion interfered with local ADR compliance or the structure of the car, it carried a ‘Second Manufacturer's Compliance Plate' and was sold through a national network of selected Ford dealers.

Thus it was never an official Ford model but a post-production special hence a final new car price of almost double the donor vehicle.

That very same car was on Ebay earlier this year. Same pics.

I thought it went for around 19 or 20 grand? Buyer must have fallen through?
