Default Build & Compliance Label Issue

Just got a letter from FoA advising me they want to change the build & compliance label on my car, as there may be a "quality concern affecting the long term durability of the print on the labels".

Anyone else got this one yet?

I will do it eventually, but is it a five minute job I can take it in, get it changed, and drive off into the sunset?

My dad owns an 06 LS focus & he told me he got a letter about it today.

I own an 06 LS Zetec but havent got the letter.

Doesnt sound like a serious problem though. I wonder if its only the South African Focus or the German ones aswell like the XR5's

In a word, no.

My workmate tried to do this and was told that the dealer needs to first order the specific compliance plate in for your vehicle.

Thanks mate. Posted about it on Facebook and one of my mates who I hardly see works for a Ford service department (had forgotten that) - he stated they need to look at it and if required, order them in.

Will definitely take it and get it looked at, and if it needs them, get them ordered and then changed over when I get a chance.

I also posted the version of the letter they SHOULD have sent regarding it ;)
Why not just say it how it is? "We stuck s***house labels to your car to save coin, now people are complaining they've faded, we're gonna spend more than what it would have cost to do it right in the first place to fix it and shut customers up".

I got the letter today and reading it now. My label is completely fine! and looks like it will stay on for the life of the car. Is it manditory? I hate leaving the car at the dealers for a 2minute job.

With them sticking on a new label that is not rivited on, I dont see a point. If anything else, the new label will probably peal off easier that the original label due to dirt.

great...
Booked it in for next Thursday, they need to assess the car for approx 15-20 mins... then takes about 3 weeks for a new plate to be made where you have to go in again...

At least the guy on the phone was really helpful and friendly!

They looked over the car for 5 mins, checked rego and VIN number, say it might be 2 weeks before a new one is made and they'll contact us to bring the car back and get that put in when it's ready.

Pretty painless... so far.

So in theory, if they can make a new sticker now, they could print out another one later on in the future if it goes missing (stolen/recovered or for whatever reason).

have 2 focus' in the family. my wife has LS LX and her label is fine, and the mother in law has a LS CL and when washing her car one time, i wiped the label clean, so hers definitely needs one. i imagine this is the reason the notice has been issued. obviously others have wiped theirs clean too.

no big deal really.

I did not receive the letter but found out about it forn my '07 Focus because my local servo picked up on it when they were doing the safety certificate. So, now I am held up selling the car because of their dodgey stickers............... (The car would have otherwise sailed through the safety cert!)

I have swung by and ordered it and waiting for it to come in.

Where is it?

I had a look, there is a small sticker with a barcode on it almost opposite the steering wheel (under the bonnet)

hmmmm... so ford can reproduce a vin label and a dealer can attach it to a car.. yet if you remove tags to repaint.. legally you cant them back on a car (as discussed at length in another thread)...
How can Ford do this and not breach the legalities.. as defined by road traffic acts?

Seems the recall affects LT models as well as the LS. Ford sent me the recall letter for the LT TDCI which I got today.

Got mine today, oh joy...

Instead of tossing around, I should be able to drive it in, they check it and order if necessary, then comeback for a 2 minute stick on and leave.

I really couldn't be stuffed dropping it off and getting a lift and all that for a sticker..

Yeah-what a w..k.
Have an LS and an LT and have had letters about both cars labels.
That means when teh wife and I work Mon-Fri fulltime hours somehow magically we are supposed to find and hour and half to travel to from and stuff around at a Fraud (ford) dealership. Then again 3 weeks later -total 6 hours time, even then they might want the car all day to fit the label.
I am not going to bother.
I like Ford cars but passionately hate their dealers.

Might be a PITA, but if the locals want to look at it and they can't read it, you might be "forced" to do something about it.

Just got a letter about my Dec. 09 build LV. It says something about possible "wrong" information rather than rub-off printing.
