hey all my mrs got rear ended yesturday in my 1995 mazda 323 with 140,569km on the car the person that hit her is at fault and admitted it
the problem that i have noticed since i looked at it yesturday after work boot lid abit buckled boot latch has been pushed back and boot lid wont close the passanger side back seat will not fold down at all there is slight vibration in the back that was not there when i drove it early that morning the market value of the car is only worth between $900 and $2100 so i was just seeking some hints to see if it is a total loss or not

20 year old car, not rare or a classic, not worth much - not worth the repair, and the issues you now have will probably cost more than the car is worth to repair.
Oh well, good excuse to get her something with a few modern safety features.

I'd say total loss if it's only worth that much. The respray alone would cost more than the cut off point for insurance to write it off, let alone the repairs.

You’ll probably find the floor pan in the boot section is buckled and it will be written off.
It's not uncommon for a rear ender to do a lot more damage than the eyes can easily see and the misaligned panels are a dead give away. |

Bugger, sorry to hear.
Say goodbye to it, not worth the repair sorry. At least now you could look for a focus, XR5 even ;-)

Got rammed up the rear by a dump truck at a red light. Insurance foolishly decided to fix the car. They spent $13,000 repairing a $17,000 car, and it took 2 months and we had no say in the matter. What logic insurance companies work on puzzles me...

It,s not rocket science to fiure how insurance works. If the cost of repairs + salvage value is less than insured value the vehicle gets fixed.

They then pay you the agreed insurance amount. If you want to keep the car you then buy it back from them............usually dirt cheap
