Gday all,
Getting my Pacemaker extractors, Ballistic Cat & Redback 2.5" exhaust fitted on Monday....just wanting to get some feedback on which exhaust tips you guys think work best with the AU's and why!!! Personally at the moment I'm leaning towards a twin 2.5" offset tip (to go with the curvature of the rear bumper) Are the 2.5" tips two small to fill the gap in the bumper? Would twin 3" tips be more appropriate? I don't want to go overkill..... I have seen this link: http://www.performanceexhaust.net.au/exhausttips.htm and had a quick read through this thread: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11249868 Does anybody have any recent shots of their exhaust tips, along with why they chose their particular ones???? Cheers, Dave.

Are these stainless tips dave, or chrome?
Twinnies are always look classy, but are a to clean in between. Try and get a tip that suits your rear bumper.

I'm a fan for no tips. I just think it looks classier and also gives off that suss look as to what engine your car is. You see these 6's with these huge tips and it just looks to try hard.
It depends. If you're forced to put tips on you car because your bumper has the cut out then I rekon go the ones you originaly posted. They will suit the back end of it really nice. Here's no tips.

I went for the no tip look myself. I actually have a slight dump behind the bumper, which if you got down low enough you would see. Again I did this for stealth reasons.

couldn't be too hard to clean surely....use a dedicated microfibre cloth that you can get nice and filthy!!! I don't want to get anything that looks too 'try-hard', as VRSAC3 has pointed out...maybe go the smaller ones??? twin 2.5" as opposed to twin 3"??

Just make sure they tuck it nicely level with the bumper rather than making it stick out like some do.

with no bodykit the no tips looks good,
as v3sarc3 said it comes down to personal taste, and id rather "see where the noise is coming from" so to speak. when the car has a body kit i think tips looks better (lol dirty car and tips on that night)

agree there Shane. Bodykits need tips. Looks too bizarre without.
But the OP doesnt have a body kit fitted. Doesnt mean he shouldnt have a tip. Just be picky with the finished result.

Dave, can I ask what made you go for the Redback System? Just out of curiousty! ... Did you shop around? Or have you heard a Redback exhaust on an AU and been happy with it?

I also forgot to mention, re the tip / no tip debate, I don't have a bodykit of course, but I do have the little cut out in the bumper where the tailpipe sits....so it would look a bit silly if I didn't have a tip..... I'm after something nice and smart but without being over-the-top-flashy...I think the offset ones would suit the lines of the bumper nicely.....but I'm after your opinions as well.....

Could you post a Pic of your car? with a back picture also? Might help with people to throw up idea's. Because the right exhaust tips set of the car. If you get the wrong ones ot'll spoil the look of your car IMO.

But I'd deffinalty go with the ones you are looking at. They are what I would go for if I was to but Tips on. The Same style my cousin had on His Clubsport I love them how one sits back. THey are what I was going to recomend, but after searching my PC for a pic of the tips I saw yous lol and they are kind of the same. So yeah go for them. As long as they hide the tips more into the bumper so you can't see that they go into one pipe (like some hang out too much) and that will look tuff!!!
So yeah thats my vote :P

I think your bumper would look best with a single oval tip protruding just 10mm past the edge of the cutout....
How about you go to the exhaust shop and ask if they'll let you balance a few in the gap to see how they look? They should be happy to do that, especially if you go to the guys selling you the exhaust system. Take a few snaps from different angles, then go home and pore over them for a while! |

Otherwise Imo go for a twin 3" straight through, the twin 2.5" just looks a little girly and the lip on the end of the tip just doesnt make it look as tuff i reckon. Thats my opinion anyway By the way what are you doing with your old tip? ive got twin dumps and want a change they dont suit my car as i cant tuck them up into the bumper enough. |

^^^ Too big IMHO .. Sorry don't mean to offend you. Just twin 3" might look alittle "try hard" on a Futura. ... Although I could be wrong lol
